Here are a couple of interesting articles on 800V charging offered by Porsche. They argue for long distance driving, 800V charging is convenient and economical (in terms of the value of time saved). Could 800V charging be offered as a Rivian upgrade or does that not make any sense? Big unknowns are how fast charging stations will appear and at what levels of charging service.

Porsche is going to deploy a network of 500 high-voltage charging stations in North America, one at each of Porsche's 187 dealers and the rest presumably located at high value locations.

In the two years since Rivian revealed the R1T and R1S, has the charging market moved ahead so much that Rivian should reconsider its on-board charging architecture? Certainly, Porsche as a brand, has the same sort of dedicated brand loyalists and performance oriented customers that Rivian aims at. Yes, Rivian's adventure orientation is different but the emphasis on performance and aspiration are the same.

2+ years is a lot of time to refine. Maybe not this but I suspect there will be some surprises when ordering becomes available.

The Electrify America fast chargers already support 900V and there is a press release of a Porsche charging at one of their stations in NY at 270KW.
