Same. Nearly 6k miles and I’m around 1.85mi/kWh

Lots of shorts trips. But no where near the same ballpark as theses hypermiling heros.

21” no aero

That's pretty low for 21" wheels/tires. But, if you sit in the truck with it on, the trip meter counts that time and figure plummets. Or, if you're in a cold environment, then probably about right. With my 21's in CA and moderate temps, averaged around 2.3-2.5 miles per wh. No aero covers

22,000+ miles! 2.2m/kWh.

Great thread....I'm surprised I'm at 2.2 with 20" AT's and the last 4,000 miles I've been on Cooper Discover AT3 XLT (heavy duty AT's). Mixture driving, including road trips and twice towing a car hauler. I do run the Coopers at 62psi +/- 2psi. They are rated to 80psi.

If sitting in the car counts negatively towards your efficiency, does that mean preheating or preconditioning your vehicle before entry is as well?

wondering if some of you with lower efficiency do more of either of those and that’s impacting the overall even though actual driving efficiency may be closer. 🤷‍♂️

This is very similar to me at 1.87 mi/kWh with 1134 miles on the clock, also with 21’s. Pretty mild winter here in the mid-Atlantic this winter. Average speed 27 mph.

Must be nice. Lots of towing, parking outside in the cold and short trips for me with 20” wheels.

the service center gave me a loaner LE on 20” wheels with just under 8k miles and had a lifetime efficiency of 2.2 and in the three days I had it I had 2.4… and I drove as I do my regular truck. So it’s super baffling.

The numbers reported in the trip meter (which I reset when I left my house at 70% state of charge) are not consistent. See my math below.

Also note that the OP (@NC-Rivian ) screen shot is also weird because 10,027.4 miles/3,727.2 kWh = 2.68 miles/kWh, not 2.44 miles/kWh as the trip meter showed. Others are off as well. I believe the miles are accurate (they're regulated and numbers for my trip A match the distance). I suspect the trip meter is not showing accurate energy information.

See calcs for others below my screenshot. @SolartoEV, @goldburger, @AllInev, @Mark_AZR1T, and @Thedude.

My estimates.

Ya I believe the total energy used being wrong is known but people say the efficiency is correct.

My loaner on 20s with 1900 miles had lifetime of 4.0! Had to be wrong. I’m only getting 1.8 In it.

The Rivian app reported 16.0 kWh delivered to get me back up to 70%. Given the squishiness in the state of charge estimates, that' does get pretty close to the trip meter reported efficiency (1.69 vs 1.66). I know there are some losses in charging but, FWIW, my JuiceBox reported delivering 18.28 kWh for the same session.

Presumably @Mark_AZR1T is in Phoenix area, not known as a cool climate. I was getting similar range, 2.1-2.4, in the summer

I watched my truck lose 5% in as many minutes right after I left the cabin today (mainly downhill), then leveled out. I notice this most mornings. It's got to be a battery conditioning issue that could be solved with pre-conditioning.

As I said before, we'll still be consuming that much power but it would be nice to have it happen while plugged in, and not during our driving.

I’ve had good luck avoiding that drop by starting the truck charging for a bit before leaving. Set the charge limit to 70/85 and then up it to 85/100 before leaving and let the battery warm up by charging for a bit. I do it every Sunday for my weekly charge and it seems to help.

I've tried that and it usually helps, but it's unknown how long it takes to really impact it. I thought I got it right today with 10 minutes, but alas, it dropped on me.
