I plan to trim and reinstall the plastic pieces. Any tips are appreciated. Cheers!

I used a Dremel to cut a slit in them and wiggled in the bracket for the step. I then covered the slit with Gorilla tape. The tape has held fine since September 2023.

i will advise you not to use their included tools, they are not made from hardened steel. You might also need a cheater bar to get the OEM bolts out.

I used aluminum/tin snips:

Not the prettiest but you can't see the slits unless your under the truck.

Liquid can still get in even before the running boards. The main reason I reinstalled them is to protect against road debris damaging the e coating on the underside.

Here are rather poor pics of what mine looks like. Some have cut slots from the door in... The way I cut them is less visible but requires the runners to be off when you reinstall the panels.

Thanks for the tips. Yes the tools are junk. So was the labeling of driver side/passenger side on the brackets. Boards are on.

Thinking of getting these myself.
Do the boards affect the camera views? Do you still have unobstructed views of the wheels when backing up or do the boards get in the way?

No camera view obstructions. They look good and function well. Quality seems good. Install was a few hours. Nice product for $500.

Just finished installing the EVBASE running boards. And I'm quite satisfy with the quality and outcome.

For a smoother installation, I was using the "TP55" bit and impact wrench. Despite using the impact wrench, 1 of the 6 bolts required extra effort to turn.

Additionally, I took the time cutting slots on the plastic covers and wiggling them back. (A standard template may not work, since each vehicle mounting brackets are angled slightly different.)

Also, I spent the time adjusting the rear so it doesn't stick out. I particularly like this Evbase extend all the way to the back, for rear passengers to get in and out, compare to the brands.

For longevity, time will tell if this is going to rust.

I like the slits cut here, can I ask what tool you used to cut them and how you measures them so precisely?

I assume you used an oscillating tool? But the measurements which each would be different I kmow, but did you hold it up or how? TIA

@chi-chi, I was dry fitting the panels after the running board brackets were installed on the car. Eyeballing and marking with a pencil where to cut, then cut the slots with the Dremel cut-off wheels. I have put 3M exterior weather tape to cover the holes.

Thanks so much. I just ordered mine based on your setup and the price. I will give this a try, hoping I can make the same slots. I think if I have the mounting bracket in hand I can visualize better how to measure and slide the opening over the mounting bracket, thanks again!
