I personally bought the 48 amp Lectron and gave it away to a forum member and prefer to use the 80 amp A2Z Stellar with built in lock and compact design.

I would recommend sticking with known brands like Lectron, A2Z and TeslaTap

I would recommend the A2Z Stellar NACS to J-1772 adapter which is available for $88, compact build, has a built in lock, good customer service / warranty and overbuilt for futureproofing.

This adapter is used with Tesla home chargers and destination chargers commonly found at hotels / shopping center / parking lots.

The level 2 Stellar adapter will pay for itself overtime by avoiding an expensive fast charge on the road every night while you sleep at the hotel with Tesla destination charging.

You can use the same Tesla Find Us link to locate Tesla Level 2 destination chargers.

Feel free to use the forum discount code ā€œRIVā€ to save $$$ and get free shipping too.

Retired from construction.
At the time that I bought the Tesla tap was the only one available so I haven't paid any attention to other brands.

Recently came over from Tesla - bought the A2Z. It works perfectly, nicely built. May want to get it soon...it's made in Canada / shipped from there, they might be impacted from tariffs and increase prices.

Are you sure it is made in Canada? I know all the design and quality control is in Canada, but they use plants in China to keep production cost down. I am not knocking them at all, as they are a great company. Just want to verify you confirmed that it really is manufactured there.

A2Z EV is a Canadian company based in Quebec.

Service, support and final testing / packaging is performed in Canada.

I believe the production is in China and A2Z EV is also involved in the whole process at the factory.

maybe @A2ZEV can confirm all the details.

I am not sure how Tariffs will impact pricing for goods being shipped from Canada.

here is a previous quote from them when we first started buying adapter back in March 2024 when Tesla charging went live.

Here we are!

Just wanted to drop in and say we’re here for you all, ready to chat and help out on the forum whenever you need.

Let's clarify something:
We have stock, we receive inventory almost everyday and we ship hundreds of orders daily since the 5th of January. Over a thousand Ford owners are already using our adapters on Tesla Superchargers since the 29th of February.

Now, about the wait time for this adapter—it's taking 2-3 weeks to ship because we've got a ton of orders to handle, we’re super strict about checking each adapter (yep, every single one gets inspected and tested in China and Canada), and our shipping team isn’t huge. But don’t worry, we’re on it! We’re thinking about bringing more folks on board to speed things up. Just hang tight, we’re getting there and improving how fast we can get these adapters out to you.

As a side note, we are the only company currently shipping NACS to CCS1 adapters, the only one...

This is exactly what I was referring to. A2Z in Canada has total control over the products they sell. They just use production facilities in China because, well, it allows them to be competitive with the bottom feeders on Amazon.

The DCFC NACS adapter does not work with Tesla slow chargers, according to Rivian. They recommended a third party adapter by Lectron

Lectron Tesla to J1772 EV... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09DCTJCTV?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
This I know. I was addressing this part of OP’s inquiry:
ā€œAlso, is the charger adapter that Rivian sells on their website the best option? I used a referral code from Leo and going to get some free credits so probably will use that for the adapter for Tesla Super Chargers but if any of you Tesla owners or former owners has any advice it would be greatly appreciatedā€

A lot of people point to relatively expensive adapters, but I've used this one several times with good results. It feels well made and is less than half the price of a lot of others:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CJXDGW1J

An adapter really shouldn't be more than $50. They're really nothing special. Tesla sells their J1772 >> NACS adapter for $50 which is solid.

Hi everyone. Long time Tesla early adopter here. I've purchased the Model S, X and Y. My daily driver was a Model X for almost the past 10 years and loved it but every year or so the repair bills just killed me and finally threw in the towel. I went and bought a R1S Dual Max battery today and excited to join the Rivian family.

I was told that Rivian doesn't sell the adapter for the Tesla Home Charger. Which brand do you all recommend? If you have any Amazon links for ones that you've purchased and work well I'd greatly appreciate it. Also, is the charger adapter that Rivian sells on their website the best option? I used a referral code from Leo and going to get some free credits so probably will use that for the adapter for Tesla Super Chargers but if any of you Tesla owners or former owners has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.
Earl, congrats on your new R1S!
I was fortunate to receive the free adapter from Rivian and have used it with my R1S Gen-2 Tri-Motor without any issues. I’ve driven from Virginia to California and back, and then from Virginia to Georgia and back—mostly using Tesla chargers—and never ran into any problems. From what I understand, the initial wait time for the adapter was due to the ramp-up period needed for Tesla to supply them.
I should add that the per/kWh DC rate from Tesla is 28-33 percent cheaper than the RAN rate. See below real-world rate comparison, Mar 16, 2025:
Charlotte, NC: Tesla $0.36/kWh
Henderson, NC: RAN $0.56/kWh
Fredericksburg, VA: RAN $0.54/kWh

Thanks Dan!

I look forward to picking up my new R1S next week. Mine didn't come with a free adapter but bought one ahead of time. I'll use the $500 referral credit for a Tesla Supercharger adapter as those look like $250 and another member was kind enough to agree to send me $250 of his referral credit too. Can't wait to get it.

Nothing special needed other than the adapter for TWC. There is a compatibility mode on the Tesla wall connector which is needed for some EVs though not for Rivian.

It will flash red after you plug in, leave it, it will eventually turn green and start charging.

I installed a wall mounted holster made by Lectron so I could just leave the adapter connected.

That charges our R1S daily. I have video on my channel showing the adapters and how I have my wall connectors.

The only thing I don’t like is that I still can’t take advantage of the TOU rebate offered by my utility which would save me $0.02 per kWh. Even if I do 1,000 kWh of charging though it’s only saving me $20 a month so I can’t justify replacing my chargers.

Anyway enjoy the new ride šŸ˜Ž
