Does the Tesla wall charger automatically work with these adapters to charge non-Teslas or do you have to configure anything with the home Tesla wall charger?

Nothing at all to configure. Total plug and play. I always have used my Tesla wall charger in dumb mode. Nothing configured/Wi-Fi.
I plug in the Lectron adapter to the cable; light on tesla charger changes to purple right away. Plugging my Rivian to the tesla wall charger with this adapter, maybe a two-second handshake, then charging starts. The charging rate on my Rivian is on average 10.5 kW vs. 11.5 with my Teslas. Totally transparent, the Lectron adapter.

Funny, must confess. For the longest time, I had a hard time removing the Lectron adapter ftom the wall charger connector. Had to pull a little hard on the Lectron. Well, duh!!! Had not noticed the button on the underside of the Lectron for releasing it! A breeze now.

Hi everyone. Long time Tesla early adopter here. I've purchased the Model S, X and Y. My daily driver was a Model X for almost the past 10 years and loved it but every year or so the repair bills just killed me and finally threw in the towel. I went and bought a R1S Dual Max battery today and excited to join the Rivian family.

I was told that Rivian doesn't sell the adapter for the Tesla Home Charger. Which brand do you all recommend? If you have any Amazon links for ones that you've purchased and work well I'd greatly appreciate it. Also, is the charger adapter that Rivian sells on their website the best option? I used a referral code from Leo and going to get some free credits so probably will use that for the adapter for Tesla Super Chargers but if any of you Tesla owners or former owners has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.
The adapter Rivian sells is made by Tesla. Works. Don't overthink simple things. Keep in mind there are many road side charging options now. No need for most folks to regularly use Tesla chargers anymore, except in an emergency. Drive well.

Awesome! Thanks for the great info. This is great. I've been driving Teslas so long that I haven't had to think of anything else. I still have a Model Y so will be using the charger for that too. This is great that the charger is so easy. I read some old posts on another blog that said they had to "configure" their home charger. I hope it's just plug and play as you mentioned. Thanks again.

I only tried to configure my wall charger once so that it would charge my Teslas and Rivian. I think I entered VINs. I found it such a hassle and totally unnecessary for me to configure the tesla wall charger and for what, anyway!?
The charger is on a 60 A breaker. Has worked flawlessly forever on my Teslas and Rivian, latter now 15 months since delivery. Have charged my R1S on the tesla charger, man, some 40 times. Never had so much as a glitch.

Nothing to ever change on tesla charger, nothing to configure. Just install, commission, and totally forget about it. Tesla or Rivian, I just grab charger cable connector, plug in, walk away. Charging starts and ends, no problem.

I looked on Amazon -- a favorite shopping place. I saw a lot of cheap Chinese stuff I didn't want to trust. I finally went with the Hansshow one. It has been working great with my Tesla UMC2 when camping. It is rated for 80 amps -- way more than the 48 max of the Rivian.

https://www.hansshow.com/products/h...ng-adapter-max-80-amp-250v-for-j1772-evs-only

For DCFC I have the one Rivian issued, built by Tesla.

Lectron and A2Z were the adapters recommended at the time I bought my Lectron.
My Tesla wall charger puts out 48 A max. No use for 80 A.
For fast charging, even though I finally received my Rivian NACS adapter, have not used it yet. I purchased and have used the A2Z Typhoon PRO for fast charging. Flawless. No problem with it ever. Another true plug and play/charge. They all ( the adapters) are dumb, pass-through.

Retired from construction.
Tesla tap mini 50A is the only way to go. For high speed charging get the factory Rivian charger.

Hmm. Tesla Tap Mini J1772 for $239 or the excellent or equally excellent Lectron J1772 adapter for $113, both on Amazon? I'll take Lectron for $113, Alex!
Wonder what Tesla Tap thinks its Tap Mini is. Heck, my A2Z Typhoon PRO for DC FAST CHARGING, mind you, not pokey Level 2 like these two, cost a lot less!!!

Ha, yeah I was wondering on that price difference. Seems like a difficult hurdle to sell if the price is over double.
