Bit fallacious to use a cheaper vehicle having a feature as a reason to have it on a more expensive vehicle. The most expensive vehicle in the world does not have every feature of every cheaper vehicle.

Now if the argument was that all cheaper vehicles had this..

The fact they don't fold is a huge miss by Rivian. My JGC costs less than 1/2 and they fold.

Having them folded down offers the same benefit for visibility without losing them or having them bounce around.
There‘s some head restraint height rules at play here.

Elaborate? How is folding headrests that fall below the top of the seat line different then removing them when you talk about height rules. The top of the seat is then the height issue either way isn't it?

Folding seats are allowed folding head restraints, but they have to protrude a certain amount to promote discomfort in the stowed position or pop up automatically.

FMVSS 202A effectively requires head restraints to be fixed height.

Yes, it was one of the first things I did. The only difference is that they are stored in a cabinet in the garage. I did put them on last weekend for the first time as my son and his wife were riding with us on a trip. I took them back out afterwards.

Anyone else do this mod, besides me?
How am I just now seeing this? I'm doing it immediately after this road trip! Can't see anything because the RTT right now so doesn't matter.

What rubber mat or inserts did you put in there?

I just cut some rubber sheet I had laying around in the garage. Anything will do! The greater visibility is so awesome!

I can’t recall the last time I had a human in the rear seat of any of my EVs, so I removed the headrests and installed some rubber mat to his the ugliness beneath. Great rear view from driver’s seat now!

How many of you did this mod? Just curious. Love it, personally. Maybe someone, like @twraps could make a filler rubber mat kit for us?
