I figured you’d missed a link in there.

My opinion, that is completely useless for a Rivian as a power source. It’s $12k and only has 5.4kw of energy - about ten miles in other words.
Gotcha…useless for sure. Thanks.

I’ve done worse in gas trucks.
Of course - was pretty sure that the other inverter generator was closer to 50mpg... Big contrast

Nowhere near that kind of efficiency unfortunately. Most of the generators I’ve used or have run the math on get about in he same 10mpg range.

Sorry, they swagged 30mpg. Would be curious what is the actual result.

A run time of 12 hours on a 6.6 gallon tank charging at 5.2kwh works out to 16.5mpg for my truck (1.75mi/kwh). The 12 hour runtime is reasonable given the generator has a 25% load runtime of 18.5hrs.

Wow, 1.75?

I've averaged 2.4 over 3300+ miles.

Edit: that'd put me at 26mpg.

I tow 7000lbs multiple times each week, have a short, cold battery drive to work and home each day and 20” wheels. Just about all of the things you can do to lower efficiency.

Add a parachute and you'll be complete!
1.75 actually seems good given your needs.

Next R1S aftermarket accessory: A 5 to 10kW generator that sits in the front trunk.

I'm skeptical on these fuel consumption figures until someone actually does some testing in real life.

Generac GP3500i0 will fit under the tonneau. You’ll only get a 3kwh charge rate out if it but if fitting under the tonneau is a requirement it’s probably the best option.
and they make a parallel kit so that'd be quite a bit more charge rate... for under $1500. Thanks!

I actually made my own because I was in a crunch and decided it was going to be cheaper/easier to just throw different ends on rather than buying a bin of "dogbones".

It's a NEMA 14-50R standalone outlet with 18" of 6 gauge THHN that I've got currently conneced to an L6-30P... But if I forget to drop the trucks current limit to 24A I'm gonna have a bad time ;).
I've accidentally killed a breaker at a campground by overloading them with the stock Rivian charger and a TT-30 adapter. It's tough to remember to turn the amp limit down in the truck first every time when you are plugging and unplugging several times a day. I've since re-wired up my OpenEVSE with a TT-30 cord, limited it to 24A, and will be carrying that with me this year in addition to the Rivian portable.
