^ I would lean towards this but doubtful as I have heard of 10+ trucks with the exact same veer to the right issue. Additionally, service center confirmed that the alignment needed isn't a normal quick and easy alignment. He said it takes 2.5 hours to complete and has more to do with syncing the motors rather than balancing the wheels.

That makes sense because it’s definitely different when I drive in conserve mode vs all purpose.

You would think so ha! But they are telling me they have to sync them to fix the alignment. This would make me believe that maybe the front right would be pushing out more power than the others etc. Just a hunch as I try and guestimate in my head.

This would also explain why some people are reporting to have perfect alignment rolling down a hill in neutral but then car drifts right under acceleration.

Damn that sucks. I drove mine less than 5 miles away from the SC/Delivery Center before it conked out with a critical battery failure. After an entire day of having techs trying to fix it, they luckily gave me a loaner R1T and I drove 4.5 hours back to Nashville from ATL. I am still waiting on the HV battery to be removed and a new one installed. I am worried that once I get it back, I will have luck similar to you where I keep getting a death by a thousand cuts. I really would love Rivian to successful and grow, but they are having some serious issues with supplies and not having enough service techs and locations to keep up with all the repair issues.

As noted the wheels are synchronized but that does not mean they produce equal torque if commanded to the same speed so perhaps your man meant to imply that the tunings of the PI controllers needed to be equalized.

Man that’s horrible. Hopefully they are able to swap the battery for you. My service advisor told me it has to do with how the HV battery charges the 12 volt battery. A connection is staying in the open position.
After a rant with customer service about my experience at the service center they were able to schedule me another appointment on Friday July 8th. Im schedule for another alignment, repair of the HV pack, and they will repair the dent they made in the side of my truck. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Holy cow. Supposed to take delivery this week and feeling some cold feet right about now. Particularly as I'm 4 hrs from service center. You can maybe forgive an upstart EV maker having a bunch of repair issues IF they were super responsive in attending to them. Conversely, you could excuse slow service if there were seldom any repair issues to worry about. But this is sounding like worst of both worlds. Seems very counterproductive to subject its loyal early adopters to this. Im hoping its partly that the forums tend to give disproportionate attention to owners with bad experiences, but I'm kinda needing talking back in from the ledge reading all this.

Honestly I’m getting very annoyed. On Saturday I had to reset my vehicle 3 different times to get it out of limp mode. I didn’t drive it on Sunday. But today I went to the grocery store and the error happened again. Now it seems like it’s going to be every time I start the car. While sitting in my hot car having to reset it twice to clear the code I noticed my driver side vent will not come to center. Customer service said they will add that to my list of things to fix.

Apologies to those who have read my replies about these problems in previous posts, but what on earth was Rivian doing during their "slow and deliberate" time to market?
Many complained it was taking Rivian forever to make the first delivery. Then they only delivered to employees to make sure any problems with the vehicles were ironed out before filling orders from the general public.
And now that deliveries have started, there appears to be lots of problems with MULTIPLE systems. Can all these problems be attributed to lack of experience on the vehicle assembly line?
Certainly, assembly line workers have some kind of checklist that the parts they installed are working properly?

We ordered high tech trucks from a company that had never produced a motor vehicle before. We were familiar with what Tesla went through before achieving relative stability. Why are we surprised?

I guess really early model S cars were full of problems, too. But my Feb 2014 Model S (mid-early production vehicle) has been nearly perfect in over 8 years. Hope Rivian can dramatically improve assembly by first half of 2023 which is my new R1S "delivery" date.

I understand extra challenges are supply chain, but the problems we've been hearing about are not necessarily supply chain-related.

Ugh, this sucks to hear and I feel for the OP. If my truck did all that to me in 5 days, RJ would have been picking it up as a return with a refund. I’m keeping my fingers crossed every time I drive it that something doesn’t flip out and strand me somewhere. Never had that feeling with any new truck I’ve bought in the past. Sure hope they get you taken care of soon so you can report a good happy story!

Must be a shortage of knowledgeable people at these centers. When I picked up mine in Houston, the SC rep had said he was being moved all over to different service centers to help out.
I think a lot of their service people are coming from dealership land, where it’s “deny, deny, deny”.
I am confident your truck was aligned at the factory.

A driver may have accidentally slammed your front wheel into a curb causing the front end misalignment condition.
Factory alignments are rarely exacting. they’ll Be within “acceptable“ numbers. Since it’s an automated process done as quickly as possible, “good enough” is the name of the game. I’ve never had a new car come perfectly aligned.
