IRS rejects my Clean Vehicle Tax Credit due to no Clean Vehicle Seller Report from Rivian

So I reached out to Rivian and they have sent me my unsinged Clean Vehicle Seller Report with this note:

Here is your blank Clean Vehicle Sellers Report that was not signed by you within 3 days of you taking ownership as per the program instructions. that request for you to sign withing that time frame was sent to you 3/18/2024 at 1:16 PM CST. We cannot advise you on submission through your Tax Preparer to the IRS, but this document will not match our portal we make available to the IRS at this time.

I have now seen multiple articles about the IRS opening the ECO portal so dealers can update the VINs in the system retroactively as this program was confusing to many. I asked many times about the process during purchase and delivery and was never told to look for an email 2 days after delivery which would then need to be e-signed within 3 days... What a mess. When I bought a Tesla in 2023 my forms were located in my Tesla account, easy as that.

Has anyone been successful to get Rivian to put their VIN in the system later than the original 3 days e-signed email?

I reached out after the previous article was published, sent it to them, and was told they see my signed form in their side. So I asked that it be sent to IRS and I get a copy. They "forwarded my request" to the Portland delivery team, and I've had crickets... Again. No copy in my account, no copy sent to me, still nothing from Portland team, nothing in IRS. I'm giving them a full week before I go full Karen, which is Wednesday. Then I'm telling them to either send it to me AND submit to IRS or I'll be showing up PISSED to their doorstep.

I am glad to hear you signed it. I picked up my R1S on 16 Mar and left for a 7 day cruise on 18 Mar. The email with the link to sign was sent to me 18 Mar in my yahoo account and I missed it. I was not looking for it (no one told me this process and I did ask at delivery). This may be a costly mistake.

Now I am trying to decide if I go ahead and e-file without trying to get the credit and then if I can get Rivian to put it in the ECO system (IRS) for me and I can see it in my IRS account (using info from the thread) maybe I could do an amendment to my 2024 taxes. Anyone have any thoughts about that? What am I missing? I have little faith Rivian will ever report it. I have not seen a one post they have been successful.

What was the MSRP of your sale? Before any discounts.

As early order holder I got the 20% and have the letter stating configuration prior to the price increase. Made it 79000

You won't qualify for the credit, starting mid 2023 the rules changed and they have to be MSRP on actual MSRP, as they put on the Monroney sticker.

I had the same issue, sticker price was $90k but I paid under $80k. Alas, Rivian can't report the $79,000 to IRS. They have to report original pre-voucher price.

My last hope is to get IRS a file/info explaining that my purchase agreement is valid and the VIN meets the tax credit. This would need to be resolved before re-submitting my tax return. With the current IRS turmoil and Rivian's refusal to correct the time-of-sale report - I can use my time spent in probably & statistics class to guess how likely a successful tax credit application will be.
