Installed the triple square running boards on my Gen 2 R1S today. Went with the panel removal method since its a lease. Managed to do it in about 2 hours using I the lessons I learned from installing it on my R1T a few years ago.

Aside from R1S RB's difference from R1T, how's the fit and finish vs previous? I'm trading in my Gen 1 R1T with installed RMAXX RBs and looking to get a set for my Gen 2 R1T soon. Thanks!

Feels the same to me. R1S running boards are a little shorter and require 1 less bracket, but other than that I didn't notice any difference. Feels just as heavy and sturdy as before.

Got the running boards for my gen2 R1S. Thinking of installing by removing the panels. Any feedback if someone has faced any issues afterwards? I know the panels are plastic but any cause of concern with the fact that there is no longer any protection underneath, however flimsy it might be?

it's a common move to ditch the plastic panels. No concern.

Anyone have issues with their running boards rattling? Any easy fix I might be able to DIY? Would like to avoid a trip to the Van Nuys store if possible (we had our boards installed at the shop there). Thanks everyone in advance!

Does anyone have recommendations for a shop in the Boston area that will install running boards on my R1S? I probably could work through it but I don't have a garage and weather is unpredictable enough that it could take months for my schedule to align with the forecast.

Heads up, if Rivian calls you in to a SC to have them "Check" the plug at the HVAC for possible clogging up, they want to charge you $200+ to remove the running boards & they will not re-install them. Just had this issue two days ago at the DFW SC & declined to have them remove the running boards. I called EV Sportline in Atlanta (where mine were installed) & was told I was the 1st one they heard of having this issue

Going to install our Rmax boards soon on our G2 R1S. I've was surprised to see a T55 Torx bit included. It says 55IP. Is this a "Torx Plus" bit? I've read these bolts can be a bear to remove and definitely should use a Torx Plus and a breaker bar. I'm a little worried about getting them out. Did Rivian use thread locker? If so, any reason not to put a heat gun on them? Is an impact wrench a better idea than a breaker bar?

I'm assuming my 1/2" Pittsburg torque wrench will be sufficient for the install?

Thanks for any advice.
