Hey all,

We recently moved into a house where I get to park the T in the garage. It’s an older garage door so it’s not always bright in there so this is how I figured out my overhead interior lights don’t come on with the door opening every time. It’s random and seems to be when the truck is in [deep?] sleep mode. I created a ticket and they set up an appointment then cancelled it. I was hoping it would be fixed with the latest update but no dice.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Door open=lights on doesn’t seem to be too much to ask for in 2024 on a vehicle of this caliber.

Mine is delayed coming on when it’s been sleeping but it does come on. I’d you haven’t, check this screen setting.

Thanks for the reply. I have checked that screen. Clicked all the buttons, done both kinds of resets and it still happens. Walked though it with a service rep on the phone and was able to catch it happening and create a log file. Not delayed but won’t come on at all without some kind of intervention from me, tap the light. Switch gears. Issues are going to happen but by their response I assume this is a widespread issues without a resolution. If it isn’t widespread, I don’t understand why they’re blowing me off and not even attempting to throw parts at it.

My front over head lights just stopped working altogether. So did my hazard lights button. 2025 R1T Dual. Did you ever get your issue resolved?

Just one of my overhead lights stopped working. Mobile service replaced it for me at work. Very convenient.

With your hazard lights out, did you try to get it escalated for being a safety issue? Those could be pretty important in the setting of an accident!

No. I didn't think about that. But this morning as I saw a car stuck at the front of a very busy intersection and their hazards flashing I did think to myself "not sure what I would do there".

I will call and see if they will escalate due to safety. Thanks for the tip.

Hey Bagsofcole,
Any resolution yet? I have the same thing, randomly when I open my door the dome lights don't come on. I've closed the door and opened it and the lights always come on then. Strange. I haven't created a ticket yet because it's not a huge issue but annoying for the price tag!
Any updates would be appreciated. Thanks

No resolution yet. I'm not sure whose customer service is worse, Rivian or Verizon. The tech has been out multiple times, sometimes with parts, and sometimes without. He replaced the light assembly by the rear view mirror but that didn't fix it. He said he sent a video of the issue to whoever, (engineering, tech support, a crystal ball reader) but nothing yet. Think I've had to call this in at least 3 times, so frustrating. I hard problem to fix I can understand, but the fumbling of communication and lack of follow up is astonishing. SHIT, I didn't realize this has been going on since July.... ugh

Did you ever get this figured out? My truck goes in on Thursday for a few issues. I've taken videos of opening the doors and the lights not coming on. I got a call today asking for the date and time the videos were taken so Rivian can dig through the data logs. It's not a huge deal, but I'm hoping they can figure it out. I'll reply back here once I get my truck back.

The Atlanta SC had it for two days and sent me a generic “all done” message. Long story short, they had it for two weeks and told me no problem found, it’s a known issue, they can’t warranty an intermittent issue, their supplier won’t let them warranty it, to finally it’s going to be fixed with the next update. Something about the BCAN firmware needs an update. I figure they’ve spent a couple grand between the multiple mobile tech visits, the loaner vehicle they gave me, and the new hubs and half shafts I got installed as a consolation prize. Seems it would have been cheaper and quicker to just fix it the first time.

Thanks for your update. I will bring this thread with me to the SC. I'll leave an update once I get an answer from our Wisconsin SC.

Yeah, let me know how you fair. I almost forgot the best part. From my invoice. Lights have been turning on in cars with doors opening for over 70 years. Now it’s normal to be in the dark!? Smh

Concern:
- Customer States: their overhead lights do not work when trying to open the door and this is the third time addressing this concenr
Cause:
- The customer's concern pertains to a characteristic inherent to the vehicle, which is considered
normal. Expected improvements to be implemented in a future firmware update.
Correction/Remedy:
- Interior Lighting General Diagnostic, No Trouble Found | Labor Code: 825599112 | 0.5 hr* |
