I just got my R1T back after a medium stint at the South SF service center.
First off - major shout out to them, again. They're consistently wonderful people and great to work with, and the communication was pretty good through the process. The truck was there a total of 2 weeks. It was being worked on during the 2nd shift.
For a while now, my truck had little squeaks which I suspected were jounce lines, bumps which sounded truck-ish but not in a good way, clunks which I catastrophized were failing subframes or drive units, etc. Over broken pavement it would transmit into the cabin and it wasn't great.
All of those sounds are gone. Here's why:
1) Half-shafts and wheel bearings replaced in front (L and R). There was also a grinding noise which was a telltale that they locked onto.
2) Jounce lines replaced
3) Right rear damper replaced
The truck is -dead quiet- now. No weird noises, no wiggles, no squeaks. I can only hear the wind noise because everything else is like a coffin.
For comparison, the rental EV Silverado I had measured 68-74dB at 70mph on a smooth section of 280. Same section, same speed, 58-62dB in the Rivian. That's a massive difference.
