If I haven’t received a delivery date for my R1S, am I not in 2022?

Only launch edition orders received a delivery estimate. Others will receive delivery estimates at the end of this year. Once you get that, you'll have an idea of when your delivery is scheduled.

I really think that it's time for an update from Rivian on the status of the R1S with more details on final features, 2nd and 3rd row details and operation. I wonder when a unit will show up at the Venice Hub?

When RIVIAN filed their IPO they disclosed that they had 48,390 deposits. In other interviews they had indicated a plan to produce around 10k cars the first year, 40k the second year, and ramp up from there. Recent data claims they will be able to produce in excess of 200k cars per year in 2024... I'll believe that when I see it.

When I made my deposit it was just after the IPO announcement and probably around 50k people ahead of me. Based on the data above, I'd assume my vehicle will arrive in 2023, probably in the tail end of that year. This is again based on the data above, and if RIVIAN hits all those milestones. I suspect they'll ramp up EARLIER than originally expected, fingers crossed.

As noted above, us non-LE deposits should hear before EOY -- and see just how close my guessing here is ... :)

Since I just replied to another thread and had the info handy, here's the data from the S-1 Amendment 3 for the IPO:

"As of October 31, 2021, we had approximately 55,400 R1T and R1S"

"By the end of 2021, we intend to produce approximately 1,200 R1Ts and 25 R1Ss and deliver approximately 1,000 R1Ts and 15 R1Ss. "

"Based on our current production forecast, we expect to fill our preorder backlog of approximately 55,400 R1 vehicles by the end of 2023."

"Our target is to produce approximately 1,310 R1 vehicles a week, which when annualized (assuming 49.6 working weeks per year), equates to the current installed R1 platform capacity of approximately 65,000 R1 vehicles annually. "

"With respect to the RCV platform, our target is to produce approximately 1,710 commercial vehicles (including EDVs) a week, which when annualized (assuming 49.6 working weeks per year), equates to the current installed RCV platform capacity of approximately 85,000 vehicles annually. "

"We expect to reach a vehicle production rate, which, when annualized, would result in us using 100% of the facility’s current installed capacity of up to 150,000 vehicles by late 2023. "

" Further, we believe that we will be able to increase the annual production capacity of the Normal Factory up to 200,000 vehicles in 2023 as we introduce additional R1 platform variants and expand the facility. Over the next couple of years, we expect to establish additional domestic production capacity in order to support our product development roadmap and fulfill future anticipated demand. "

Note that last one is not stating that they will ramp up production to 200,000 vehicles in 2023. They are planning on increasing the factory capacity, whether or not they can up the production rate to meet the factory capacity is not stated in the S-1.

Way back when they said they would be posting a "Story" with more details on the R1S. Similar to the R1T: https://stories.rivian.com/sizing-up-the-r1t. Hasn't happened yet. Delayed I suppose along with just about everything else at Rivian. Or its planned this way but it will hopefully drop soon as were just about EOY.

You'd think we'd see that soon along with some actual R1Ss at first mile events or at the hub(s).

There’s a long line waiting, and a longer list of questions.

How those questions are answered, and how Rivian follows through, will determine how many chose to remain waiting and how many more chose to get in line.

That goes for both customers and shareholders.

So we got that going for us, which is nice.

Growler, I suspect your instinct is correct. You and I and many others will be waiting through 2023.

Not sure. I haven't received a delivery date either :(

I decided to forgo the LE R1S because I wanted the larger battery pack that would be made available (or at least a decision would be made on if it would be produced), later on. I now regret that decision as I doubt the larger batter pack will ever be an option...or if it is, it will add a 1 year to delivery time.

why do you doubt the max pack will ever be an option?

Because it wasn't offered at the time of configuration as was the R1T. In addition, they claim that there will be an annoucement of a larger pack, but didn't have a date. The vagueness of that claim (as in no mileage associated with it) makes me think they don't have a solution. And, they are on a roll of not delivering on promises.
I really hope my intuition is wrong....trust me on that.

I went to the Sonoma event and test drove an R1T. It was incredible. I'm an R1S reservation holder since August 2019. I didn't go with launch edition because I'm waiting for the max pack.

After my test drive I was able to talk to a very knowledgeable product specialist for about 15 minutes. From what I could gather, this guy was part of the product team and knew what he was talking about. Not a marketing guy at all. I talked to him for a while and knew absolutely everything about the car.

I asked: should I have gone with the large battery and just taken delivery earlier. He said:

"You should definitely go with the car that you want. Don't try to optimize for what you think will be delivered first. They are currently doing EPA testing on the R1S and they are simultaneously testing the max pack. We should have more information about both of them very soon, probably after the new year. You should be able to get the max pack very soon."

I know there is a lot of reason to be skeptical, but here's one datapoint to be optimistic.

Did you ask the product specialist if he has been to Normal lately or at all? Engineering optimism has been great throughout the development process into pre-production. A better indicator might be when the boots on the ground in Central IL start to get optimistic.
