Looks like a Lectron Tesla Supercharger adapter, not going to work for AC charging.

You are fortunate that it did not connect the circuit! The Lectron adapter in the picture is for DC charging. That should only work with NACS DC fast chargers aka Tesla Superchargers and a limited number of other DC fast chargers. A Tesla wall charger has AC and one can use a different adapter to connect to only the J1772 receptacle of your Rivian.

The only time you use an adapter with the two big pins on the bottom that you have to open the little flap door for are Tesla superchargers or Nacs Dc fast chargers. Any other chargers that use the Tesla connector like Tesla home and destination chargers are AC and use the vehicles onboard charger. Even with a proper Tesla to j1772 adapter Tesla home chargers have a dip switch inside that can be set to only charge teslas. And not all Tesla superchargers work either they need to be v3 or v4 and enabled to charge cars other than Tesla.

Your friend's Tesla wall charger is not a Direct Current Fast Charge (DCFC) charger. The adapter you posted is a NACS to J1772 DCFC adapter. It is meant only for adapting the Tesla Supercharger (a DCFC) to your J1772 ported EV.

More elementary, what you did is to try to insert a square peg into a round hole of equal or smaller width: NOT GOING TO WORK.

OK What They Say Is Your Adapter is For DC Charging Not AC Charging. Was probably in the instructions that got thrown away.

In English: The adapter is for fast charging at Tesla Supercharger ONLY (Level 3). Your friend's wall charger (Level 2) is NOT a Tesla Supercharger.

Use Google and learn about Levels 1, 2 and 3 of electric vehicle charging.
