Backstory - some of us have had an issue for almost a year where the audio volume scaling is messed up. That is, setting the volume at 3 is loud/too loud to hold a conversation, and 2 is too quiet. It happened to me shortly after a software update last summer.

I decided to mess around with it today to see if I could solve it. I can tell you what I did. I can’t exactly pinpoint what solved it, but I have a suspicion. Let’s see if someone else has similar luck. I had Spotify on playing music. Soon after I got the R1S, I created a custom EQ setting. I have tweaked it several times, but never changed to a factory preset. Today, before going into work, I cycled through all the presets (rock, jazz, classical, etc). the volume scaling DID NOT change while or after doing this. i toggled Speed Control Volume a couple of times, no change, so I gave up.

When I left work today, the volume was set at 3 and it was QUIET. I had to turn it up to 7-8 for normal volume level (that’s what I recall when I first got the vehicle) and 2-3 is definitely much quieter than before. I then set up a custom EQ which did not affect the overall volume. 7-8 is still a good volume - not too quiet, not too loud. I’m a vey happy camper now!

My guess is that somehow the volume scaling got glitched on a software update as part of the custom EQ I had set up, and the custom EQ retained it. I am 100% certain that I did not change to a preset until today. So my best guess is that toggling through presets plus it sleeping while I was at work is what fixed it.

if you have this volume issue, give this a try and post your results!

I've always had an issue with 1 vs 2.
1 too quiet 2 too loud.

I wonder if you could let Rivian know this. They might be able to force the reset on the next update for everyone with the issue that doesn’t read this forum. Maybe put in a ticket?
