I am not a revisionist, and I’m sure that many issues about which people post here are a pain the tush. But amidst all this..
  • Alexa screen - wasted real estate
  • Rivian’s dangerous gamble
  • System fault detected
  • Navigation GPS not available
  • Bed warning will not clear
  • Mac laptop can’t connect to hotspot
…I want to say that I LOVE our R1T and R1S!!!!! They are amazing vehicles, are wonderful to drive, are sturdy and very safe, and are a major part of our families mission to do our part to combat climate change.

I love my R1S despite a few quirks. No car is perfect and it's hard to remember how much goes right with every drive. For such a young company that's building such a capable and technically advanced vehicle, Rivian is far ahead of the pack in many ways.

I’ve had mine for a bit over two years. I still get excited to drive it, and jump to any opportunity for a road trip!

Our last SUV was a Land Rover LR3 which we absolutely loved. Our R1S is better in almost every way on road and off. It’s a blast to drive and Rivian did a great job making a truly practical SUV! :like:

Of course there are some things I’d love to change which aren’t even in Gen2 with my top 3 being space for a full size spare, a solid painted roof, and a glove box in the traditional location. I load our full size spare when we go off-roading or on long road trips, I have shades for the glass sunroofs, and I use an organizer in the center console.

I am still amazed that Rivian put out such good products from the start. To be fair, our Rivian has never stranded us, and I understand how people who have had worse luck may feel very differently.

If I had to do the whole thing over I would buy it again. :)

Thanks for a whine-free post. Rivian vehicles are terrific, especially compared to their competitors. Drive well.

Been meaning to do a post like this... Maybe I will soon with my own 6-month feedback.
Overall, far and above the best vehicle I've ever owned, and I can't help but feel lucky/priviledged every time I drive it.
So many kudos to the Rivian team for so many features that make the experience special.
Also, thanks to the stalwart contributors on these forums for giving me the confidence to make this decision. Consider for a minute the Canadian experience is a step removed from the core market and there is inherent risk in that decision point alone.
Thoughts go out to Florida residents today, and all those impacted by the current / recent storms in the US. I hope your lives and Rivians are safe!
Keep up the positivity!

What the hell! You can’t write how incredible your Rivian is. You have to complain about panel gaps, stereo, cs centers, expectations of a $90k vehicle…. Or, you are right… we also love our two Rivian vehicles… not perfect but superior to all of our top of the line MB, BMW, Porsche, Range Rover… amazing vehicles.

Is it better than your lambo, McLaren, or Aston Martin?

R1S Gen 2 - Performance Dual Max
I recently traded in my 2012 MB GL450 (500hp) which I had put 120K miles on and was a fun beast of a big SUV for a Gen2 R1S Perf Dual Max and I am enjoying the Rivian a lot; rides as well as the MB did (more stability but a bit less dampening), feels bigger but (measured) same size (boxier), more storage and space, and the gearless acceleration is fun fun fun! Don’t miss the $100 gas every week. I am charging almost always at home and I really don't miss the gas station experience.

Still loving my R1T after 2 years.
I didn't bother to schedule service for minor issues noted at delivery as I expected to eventually need service & would have them taken care of then. 20,000 trouble free miles later I don't even notice the minor issues anymore.
With the software improving so much about the truck, it seems like a much better vehicle now than the day it showed up in my driveway.

We have had our dear Opal for a little over a year and a half. We love her dearly. SuEllyn and I fight over who gets to drive her when we go out together. The only issue that we have had with her is that her 12 volt battery required replacement back in August. This was very nicely handled by mobile service at which time they handled another service ticket related to a malfunctioning button on her armrest door.

Opal is still fun as heck to drive. I invent places to go to take her out. I am totally enamored with her one pedal driving. This Rivian has sold us on EV's. We are now looking at a new Silverado EV to replace our 2020 Silverado 2500 Duramax.

Next month, it will have been six years since SuEllyn started our Rivian journey with her $1,000 deposit on a truck that would not be produced for another three years. We followed Rivian's progress, and finally had the opportunity to see R1 prototypes at a private showing in Denver in June of 2019. We also got to meet RJ and the other top Rivian engineers in person. We asked a lot of questions and they were all very forthcoming.

We took delivery of Opal at the Factory in Normal, Illinois. We also got a VIP factory tour when we took delivery. Our youngest son was also a very early adopter, and has been driving his R1S for almost two years. He loves his R1S, but also has a deposit on a Cybertruck. We are a lifelong family of car guys and are some of the least likely folks to be involved in the EV revolution, but here we are.
