Weird article. It says Rivian “hasn’t figured out“ how to allow video streaming (vs simply not wanting to offer it yet), then compares Rivian to Tesla by saying Tesla added it “years ago”, yet doesn’t mention that Tesla also didn’t offer it for several years in the beginning either. Also doesn’t mention that most other automakers don’t offer this feature either🤷🏼‍♂️

Most EVs are compared against Tesla unfortunately whether they’ve been around for 2 years or 2 days, you have to be “as good as a Tesla” before you come to market. I think polestar might be the only other EV on the market with video streaming in their OS.

Very interesting...

According to a Reddit poster Rivian creates the folder structure below on your Gear Guard USB drive. later on I'll put some music files in that Starred folder and the and see if GG offers to play them... or maybe I'll need to rename them from mp3 to *.mp4 files in order for GG to even notice them.

Hey, I just finished watching the video. This is a pretty cool feature ;)

Is that in the Fisker or the Polestar?
Fisker. Polestar screen doesn't rotate, portrait mode isn't so good for video. But I could have watched it in that vehicle too I suppose.

I'd try putting the movie in it's own folder under the Movies folder. Might be expecting that for extra content reasons (subtitles, alternate audio streams)

Well I suppose I should let you get back to watching videos in ALL of your streaming capable vehicles 😒

ICE only :(
Not that I'm sitting in my car watching movies ever, but I think my iPad will work fine for now...

I just don't get the fascination with videos on the main screen. There's a ton of stuff I'd rather see Rivian put in front of that. But, to each his own.

There have been a handful of times I'm waiting at my kid's practice or various appointments and thought it would be nice but if it's a significant development effort (not sure why it is) I would rather see them work on other things.
