Agree! I'm IN LOVE with the "Dynamic Adventure Lights". By far the best I've had in any vehicle. Can't wait for other US car manufactures to start using matrix lightsI will add that these headlights are absolutely awesome. They provide fantastic light and the beam curves with the road as well as any other system I’ve seen. The dynamic adjustments of the brights are great too. I’ve not been able to test them from the other car’s perspective yet, but they do appear to keep the light off of oncoming traffic and don’t shine the brights on the car in front of me (but do shine brights to each side of it when appropriate).
Is anyone having a less than great experience with the Gen2 lights?
I also question what it looks like from an oncoming car perspective.I will add that these headlights are absolutely awesome. Yeah, the point of fog lights isn't "MOAR LIGHT!" it's "light targeted in the correct place from the correct angle" - specifically the light source being *further* from the eyes of the driver, cutting down on retroreflection from the fog.How are the Gen2 lights in fog or snow when you'd really want to have traditional fog lights? I was a little surprised that the auto-high beams turned onto high when I had the fog lights on last week when it was really foggy at night. I went from being able to see the road really well to seeing a white cloud in front of me! Fortunately someone had just posted reminding that the manual shows you how to turn off the auto function.
I've found that having the Gen1 fog lights on is better than not having them on - for some reason we have a fair amount of heavy fog where I live so I've used them a number of times. They do light up the side of the road which, in the really soupy stuff where you're doing 10-15 MPH, really helps. I guess it won't be long until our Colorado friends with a Gen2 weigh in regarding how their headlights do in blizzards as @usulio pointed out above.Yeah, the point of fog lights isn't "MOAR LIGHT!" it's "light targeted in the correct place from the correct angle" - specifically the light source being *further* from the eyes of the driver, cutting down on retroreflection from the fog.
That said, I've found the fog lights on my gen 1 to be pretty useless. They really just light up the sides of the road a little better, they do nothing in the fog.
That would be nice! I use my G1 tradional fogs all the time in fog, which we have had alot of lately, and they work great.Just drove in the Catskills on Sunday during a very foggy early morning and night. The automatic high beams were pretty useless. Switching to low helped somewhat, but having traditional fog lights would definitely have made a difference.
Has there been any talk of an update to allow for the headlights to direct some of the light down and away to aid in this situation? Is that even possible?
