How the heck do you turn off the interior accent lights when in camping mode when manage energy is set to on so that climate control system is run all night?

I've probably camped in a rivian more than anyone by this point -- and it's really annoying not being able to turn them off when I want them off ... Am I missing a control somewhere?

Can you not toggle it off from the Settings > Vehicle > Displays and Lighting and then just turn the toggle off on Accent Lighting?

There is a setting to turn them off, but in the regular menu.

There is no toggle off there -- just several levels of brightness -- lowest doesn't turn them off

Mine (2022 R1T, Large Quad, 2024.47.01 software) definitely has a toggle there - circled here and shown with it off and the accent lighting off

All that time camping in the car... and no awareness of toggle in vehicle settings? What or who kept you so busy?

Ah sorry folks -- thanks for the pointers. I started this thread while getting ready to sleep and wrote from memory about the option to control the accent lights from the setting screen. I missed the on/off toggle in some prior check of that screen. I remembered finding the brightness level selector but somehow missed the full on/off toggle checkbox floating off and up to the right of that ui.

The toggle as indicated by commenters above does indeed allow to (permanently) turn the accent lights off.

That works as a workaround and answers my original question. But it's not an ideal arrangement and introduces another little paper cut to the ritual needed to get all the camping mode related settings into a desired state befor bed -- a ritual which as currently structured will lead to annoyances regularly I suspect ...

I'm gonna turn the rest of this comment/thread into a little mini ramble on some ideas/wishes for how I'd like to see camping mode settings ui improve (rambles written on mobile phone while laying down to sleep in the back of r1s) ...

- The rear display and phone app have no control over camping mode settings (like turning on/off "manage energy" and "Turn displays off")
- things like accent lights should have some distinct state that applies while in camping mode so that camping mode can expose ui related to that state -- separate state while camping mode is on would allow for ui which is distinct and coherent with non-camping mode behaviors ...

I think a more satisfying design than the current approach would introduce a separate on/off state for the interior accent lights which applies while camping mode is on. There would be an on/off button for the interior lighting on the camping mode display while camping mode is enabled. There would be ability to manipulate that state from the rear display and from the mobile app.

i think the accent lights should probably turn off automatically n minutes after turning on camping mode but there ought to be an option to configure how many minutes that is so that auto shutoff behavior is made obvious and discoverable to the user.

Turning things on/off while in bed without having to get up and reach to the front display ought to be something that should be optimized for so that it's always possible to do without having to get up. I think a good rule of thumb the designers should keep in mind for the ui: For each setting that a user might want to turn on or adjust before they go to sleep, suppose they crawled into bed but forgot to turn it on or dial it in correctly. They should be able to adjust that setting without having to stretch forward to the front display (or if the front display is truly "off" and non-tappable -- the even worse stretch all the way forward to the brake so then can then tap on the front display ...). I have had to do that dance more often than i care to admit and I doubt I'm the only one -- sometimes because I'm forgetful but other times because my preferences change during the night (windows open vs fan on being a decision that will frequently change based on the weather)

Alexa can help turn them off, if you have it voice enabled. The problem is, she goes to sleep eventually too, so can’t turn them on in the middle of the night. At least of last summer when camping. After getting situated, could then just say, ‘Alexa, turn off interrior lights’ or something of the like, and it was quite useful.

A special 2nd screen page that appears in camping mode would be spectacular.

The one time I camped, I told Alexa, "turn off accent lighting" or "turn off interior lighting". This way you're not having to crawl up to the screen and reach up to go through all the settings.

I think anything we can do with settings that changes some physical thing inside or outside the vehicle should be available in the phone app.
