Hey there Rivianforums. A frequent question I get is about the weight limit of the interrobang tonneau. Maybe they’re concerned about snow, maybe they want to strap some gear down, who knows. I haven’t had a definite answer though, because I don’t want to break my truck finding out. But it kept nagging at me, so I conducted a totally unscientific experiment to find out so you don’t have to. Short answer is, I still don’t know. I ran out of heavy stuff in my garage around 800lbs. But, I did stack a whole lot of stuff on top of it without finding the breaking point. My guess is the rails will fail before the tonneau does.
For the test I used 70 gallons of water, a yeti cooler, a huge REI tent, a snowpeak octa tarp, a whole snowpeak kitchen set up and fire pit, and 2 bowling balls. My back of the napkin math puts that all somewhere in the 750-800lb range. This is only intended for my amusement, but I can confidently say this is definitely the strongest tonneau for the R1T that’s made by a random guy in his garage that you can buy.
