I have the Yakima Exo SwingBase, DoubleUp Bike rack and SnowBank ski racks currently for my 4xE Wrangler. Works great to give me the ability to keep it SwingBase on full time, and just slide the racks on when I need to use them. For the cost of a Kuat or Yakima swing arm + decent hitch bike rack, this has all of those features plus the ability to add the cargo box, basket etc. if I ever need it.

I plan on doing the same for my R1T when it arrives. I think I am going to do the same and keep the SwingBase on full time. It should allow to be able to allow me to drop the tailgate with no accessories installed, be used as a step if I need to reach into the bed, and swing out to allow the tailgate to drop when I have bikes/skis installed.

Been a while since your posts - wondering if you went this direction as well!
Thanks for sharing your setup! I wound up going a different direction with a Thule Pivot V2 swingout and 1UP USA hitch/bed rack (movable between the two).

I already have a FatCat EVO 6 for my other car, so my thinking is in the winter I'll just put that on either my bed or RTT rack and carry skis that way.

The EXO system seems cool but ultimately I wanted to optimize for keeping the hitch clear as much as possible when my RTT is on, to keep the truck more compact, preserve the rear camera, and simplify towing. So I'm trying to put things over the bed when I can.

I've been coaching on the glacier this summer and thought id post a pic of skis in the bed, 175 cm coaches skis and my sons 156 cm GS skis. I've has a pair of 182's in the back but that is the limit without having to angle them up. BTW I had the loaner R1T in June when I was shelping bundles of gates up they are 207 CM in length, I angled them out the corner with the tonneau retracted, should of taken a pic it was impressive.

Here is another reference point, 181 rockered skis fit diagonally. Pretty nice for a day at the ski resort I can probably fit everything else in the gear tunnel/frunk and wouldn’t be too annoyed with them taking up the whole bed. 170cm skis fit next to them in the photo.

I pick up my truck tomorrow (!) and will be attempting to jamb my 184cm yellow bananas in the back. Gonna be tight.

Hope they fit. We might also just put them straight in leaning against the tailgate and close the tonneau. My wife really enjoys her wailers.

I'm also going with a 1up hitch rack.

My wife’s 192 Nordic skate skis just fit diagonally in the bed. For my 210 classic skis I have to weave them into the cab and extend the tails into the gear tunnel through the opening in the rear seat.

I'm able to fit 164cm skis in the gear tunnel. So essentially I can fit my wife's skis and our three kid's skis. My 175cm skis fit in the bed. So no ski rack is necessary.

Wondering if around 205cm nordic skis could fit on a diagonal in the back of the bed (diagonal up/down might be needed too).

My other question: how long of a ski box can be mounted on the racks when on the bed? I have a pretty long Thule Alpine box.

No. I can get 190's in, and just barely at that.

These are my Atomic Bent 100s which are 180 and they fit sideways but I plan to use the Fatcat EVO 6 that I have on our Explorer because it’s just so easy to use.

Thanks for all the photos!

I still wish the bend extended under the seats. I am curious about how a rack over the bed, as opposed to the top of the cab, would affect range. If we were in Colorado or Washington or Utah and our destinations were close I wouldn't be all that worried about the range effect, but going to Mammoth every other weekend is a long haul, and a decrease in range is an issue when you are driving up in the morning and adding substantial charging time cuts into the ski day.

I do think either my 186 116 underfoot 4frnt EHPs or my 184 116 underfoot Praxis RX would fit in the bed just fine, but fitting them leaning diagonally might limit space for other gear.
