Most likely a 2023 R1T with 10K miles on it has had any issues (if there were any) corrected by now, so I would expect a problem free vehicle.
He had couple panels corrected and LED tailight addressed- thats it.

Very minor stuff, and although this is completely unscientific... it seems that many that are "good from the factory" just stay "good" for a very long time.

My R1T was a Jan 2023 build, I had it almost two full years before trading it in... never even one issue from day one till the day I traded it it almost two years later.

Best of luck with yours!

23xxx R1S. I had 2 years and six months to read this forum from placing my order to my delivery date. I shared your concerns and reservations. 9k miles so far and 14 months of ownership and I still can't wait to get in and drive each day. Early on one half shaft came out of its motor and it was fixed within a week. I was relieved that it was a mechanical and easily fixed problem and all shafts were inspected at the same time- I doubt that will ever be an issue again. I have not shared the negitive experiences some have had, and I think my build (late 23) and and future builds will continue to improve. I know that some of the parts I have are what went into gen 2. Hope you go for it !

Chiming in since the OP said they were in Houston as am I so I'll focus on that. Wait times are long as others have mentioned all over the country but they are friendly and helpful. My biggest complaint is even with the long wait time to get an appt. It will more than likely sit for a week or longer before they get to it. As also mentioned they will put you in a rental so at least you'll have something to drive. I actually had Mobile service out today as it was my trucks turn to need a 12V replacement (dual battery) called in yesterday so a very quick turnaround. As I purchased mine pre-owned in September Rivian was nice enough to provide me with all of my trucks service history records which was pretty clean given it is an early 2xxx VIN and has 35k miles on it now.

I have had several trucks SUV's and performance cars and as others have said this may be my favorite vehicle to date. It's fun, seriously quick, and handles respectably for what it is (full throttle in sport mode around corners with the TC off is a blast).

Buy with confidence!

23xxx range R1T here and with 23k miles on it. Love it. Best car I've ever owned. Had a medical scare with my mom (she's OK) in November. Got a call and needed to head home to see her. I live near San Francisco and she near Seattle. I Left 90 minutes after the call and didn't think about not driving the truck for a moment.

It has had a few issues and most-every time the truck goes in it is in for multiple days. I've learned that once I see an issue I open a ticket and schedule a date for it. Then while waiting for service, add more items as I discover them to the ticket. I did have a leaky CV joint at one point and Rivian got me in the next business day and had my truck back to in about 48 hours...so they can address things when needed.

Just note that this is a first generation vehicle from a first generation car company so it will have its kinks and quirks....you have to roll with them.

Buy it. Drive it. Have fun with it!

It’s 18861… ill pm you directly
Hi! You're less than 200 away from mine. Very close. Thanks for the PM. Just responding here so others can benefit from the info. Mine has the Meridian, yours most likely will, as well. The community is still trying to work out exactly when some of the changes occurred, but a lot of it just seems to be luck and when they ran out of certain parts. You probably won't have the 12V outlet in the dash or in the frunk. You may still have the wiring for the 12V in the frunk, however. Mine doesn't, but again - right on the cusp. If you pop out the right lightbulb inside the frunk you can look for the wiring. There's a few threads about "re-adding" the 12V in the frunk... if that's something you're even interested in?

If you watch the Munro videos from around that time period there's a lot of discussion about "removing things very few people used to save a few pennies" because Rivian was loosing a lot of money at that time period. It's disappointing to not have the extra outlets but not the end of the world. If you really want them, there's other ways to get them back.

I can't recall what other changes they made around then, but am sure others will chime in. The subframe is a big one (but even if you have the older welded one, if anything fails on it they will replace it under warranty). And the speakers, as you mentioned. Sounds like a great price, hope it works out for you!

Based on my experience with my 2023 R1T with now 11k miles - do it, you’ll like it! If u want the details of the 2 minor issues I encountered & had corrected at the 7500 mile service let me know. Even my tire wear (21”) is good! Welcome

Nov 22 R1T, 31k miles. Other than the powered tonneau cover that to be replaced, it's been flawless. My wife barely ever drives her Tesla. My two complaints are the shitty low res cameras and the below average charging speeds. Still love the truck and saving my pennies for another Rivian.

My R1T is in the 5K vin range. I‘ve not regretted my purchase a single time. To the contrary, it remains the best vehicle I’ve ever owned.

Only you can decide if the risks and concerns outweigh the upside. Everyone has different tolerances for such things.
This for me too, except my VIN is in the 6K range and I have nearly 60K miles on mine.

Good day owners. I’m one day away from purchasing an R1 T with 10,000 miles. The truck looks brand new. The price is very very good. The owner is simply ordering an R1S to replace. I have been reading this forum for six days the good the bad and the ugly. I am in Houston with the service center 19 miles away. Clearly I still have much remaining warranty on the truck- having said that reading about the steering wheel vibrations, suspension challenges longer lead times for service and repeat service for same issues gives me pause. Then I read how outstanding the vehicles are🤷🏼‍♂️ I drove one, wow. The production number is 18 XXX not sure that matters but it’s not one of the earliest ones. I’m on the fence looking for some feedback that might push me away or comfort me. This would be my first electric vehicle. I do appreciate anyone’s feedback greatly.
FWIW- I’ve had my 2024 R1T since 3/15/24, bought it new and I’ve no issues other than a tire blowout at 7,000 miles. The SC in Atlanta replaced it for free saying it was defective. I’ve had 2 mobile service visits: 1.to install a spare tire and jack kit that I bought a few months after initial purchase and 2. When I got a notification that my 12 v battery was on its last legs, they came and replaced it - again for free. Obviously both were warranty issues.
I read all kinds of terrible stuff but I’ve never experienced any of it. I’m in LUST with this truck. I’ve road-tripped to Maine and back, to Tampa Bay, to S.Carolina. All worry free.
Buy the truck!

Got my R1T in September 2022 and have put 55,000 miles on it. Only service issue was the air bags were defective and had to be replaced - service center people were awesome. By far the best and most fun vehicle I have ever owned - I love to drive it. We have a deposit on an R2 for my wife. Since you have never owned an EV before there is a definite learning curve - it is a different mindset. Make sure you get a charger at home. People on this forum can be a big help.

You will get great value on a vehicle that age, and you are super close to a service center. I have no regrets and love my '23 Quad, but I have had to take in into the service center a handful of times since I got it in July 2023. Things like dashboard rattle, power window button issue, 12V battery replacement, and the one big one was they completely replaced my rear drive unit. Car was never undriveable and these were all preventative measures they decided to take, and almost always got the car back the same day (except for the rear dr unit). Gen 1s are built very solid, especially after they fix and lingering production issues.

2023 R1T Quad here with 15k miles. Love the truck just like on day one when we got it.
Service scheduling can be a bit of an issue due to the wait times, but every time when I called they were ultimately able to squeeze me in earlier or once sent a mobile service. Service quality has been top. Would buy it again in a heartbeat.

So much so that I am part of the few crazy ones brave enough to take it to Europe next month.

Found a ton of great people here and learned a lot about the truck, the mods, vendors and how to do things with it.
