Hi everyone! I'm a current MBA student working on a project for class to imagine a brand extension product for a company we're passionate about. I chose Rivian and have developed a survey based on my idea. I would love to get any feedback from this forum.

See here for the survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1...ul9FW4_2k9tc_tP4nI5x9y2gQ/viewform?usp=header

Feel free to drop any additional feedback here, curious to hear your thoughts!

Thanks everyone!

It wasn't clear to me which way the number scales went.

What do the numbers mean?

"Rate how often you participate in outdoors activities.*"

I would also suggest if you have people's time, you potentially could add another question or tow that are relevant. At the same time, I appreciate that it isn't an overly long survey. So a balance between the info you need and how long the survey is important to keep in mind.

Completed. Agree with others on including descriptive anchors on the scale that reflect the item stem (frequency and strength). Additionally, your first item is really two items (or a select all that apply). One could answer Yes or No, and also be a R2 pre-orderer.
Good luck with the project.

Appreciate the feedback, I tried to add a bit to contextualize the numbers. On your second piece, I started thinking about the two/some of the particulars of it, but thought it would be more effective to keep it short.

The joys of marketing courses and surveys for your MBA. How I so un-fondly recall doing similar work.

I completed it as well. Let us know if you have follow-up questions. Often, the responses you will get will drive more questions.

Thanks! One thing that has surprised me a bit is that between here and the Rivian subreddit (tbh not sure where most of the traffic has come from), everyone who has answered either owns a Rivian or has preordered the R2. Most of my questions around this concept were hoping to find people who love the brand but aren't quite ready to buy an $80K+ car.

I tried to do an alternate survey and post it on an ATV subreddit, but they banned me 😂

All of that is to say, I'm thinking that Rivian's Also spinoff is probably more desirable to people who can't buy an EV just yet, and the current Rivian core customer isn't quite so outdoorsy to want to buy a dedicated vehicle for that.

I would buy one depending on the configuration, especially if I could charge it from my Rivian when in the field. :p

Having an MBA myself, and having done many surveys for work as a Product Manager in hi-tech, here is my considered feedback on your survey design:
1. Do you own a Rivian: Could be Yes, No, Yes AND ordered an R2, No AND ordered an R2. Your answers are not mutually exclusive and you are therefore missing valuable data on your target market. You might also want to ask if the respondent owns a pickup truck or SUV and the brand, with a pull down for brands (that cover 90% of the market) and an other for outlier brands.
2. How strong would you rate: Is 1 a high or low rating. You need to add that to this question as you have to others. I might also rethink the working - the word "connection" will have many different connotations for different people, so all your rating are actually across multiple "ideas". Really you should be asking more specific questions like "How likely are you to buy" or "how strongly do you associate with Rivians tagline", etc.
3. Outdoor activities: This is way too broad. You are going to capture people who garden and walk around their neighborhood and people that scale everest, all with the same answer...what are you trying to get at with this question? It needs to be more specific.
4. Interested in all-electric: OK on the face of it but i wold add some very basic details, like range, weight, acceleration, speed, etc. This will help people. understand if the vehicle will be for rugged offroading or for just scooting around the farm or dirt trails.
5. Rather than "explain your answer" i would ask a few more questions like "what would the top 3 product features be for you in order to be interested?"

Thats all folks....good luck with the survey results and the product paper...

I completed the survey. if that was available with a cargo bed, I would buy one to replace my beat up diesel John Deere Gator 6x4.
