Crickets from Rivian on this, wanted to get a sense of whether production has started and these are being rolled out slowly, or if they are completely vaporware for the time being...
I got my R1T in May of 22. Early ‘24 was scheduled replacement. Earliest date was during a month long driving trip. Installed in July. Left in the morning for an overnight and picked up following afternoon. Has worked fine since

I got my R1T mid-May. They scheduled my PTC for last week in September. (San Jose). Called a few weeks before that, re-scheduled it to mid-December due to shortages. Now I’m hearing others in San Jose are getting theirs. IDK……hoping to have before Xmas road trip…..

I’m scheduled for Oct 31. Hope there is not a Halloween surprise delay! My scheduled install was delayed twice, both times because Rivian said they could not get in the wiring harness.

Got my R1T in June. After two rescheduled appointments, my truck is at the service center for the installation. I was told it would take a week. I dropped it off Thursday morning and it doesn’t look like they have touched it yet.

And now my PTC bedrail button doesn't work. It worked last week and the dash screen control still works. I am going to try a soft reset if sleeping didn't fix it........ on edit, soft reset did not fix the issue. I am guessing the issue is the switch itself.

And on another edit - aha, all doors have to be unlocked, and not just the driver's door, for the button to work. Puzzle solved.

I think you’re overreacting a bit. Rivian has been great about providing rental vehicles during service. There’s always an end date on the rental contract but one call will have them extended for a week or two. They kept my R1S for six weeks.

Just make sure you confirm that all the work has been completed before you schedule a pick up date.
In most situations where persons feel slighted, the core of the issue is communication.
I stand by the core of my comments - the communication culture needs to be changed.
You are obviously a very understanding fellow - not having access to your vehicle for 6 weeks seems extreme; even for someone retired.
I work full time - I will lose 2 vacation days just dropping off and picking up my vehicle.
I am asking for communication.
I am asking for consideration.
Rivian is trying very hard; certain regions have adequate service resources, some not so much.
Go ahead and tell me up front "We need to have the vehicle for ... a week ... whatever.
Tell me I can drop it off on a Saturday and pick it up the following Saturday.
I tried 3 times to figure out what I was getting into, but the communication was too poor, and resulted in an the appropriate expectation.
At this moment I still have no idea if my vehicle will be ready in a week, but I still had to make all the arrangements to get next Monday off, all on the hope that the "backlog" is resolved.
Heck, I thought I was the backlog; I negotiated for this repair date 3 months in advance.
Then I was told to show up at 0800.
I think we all want Rivian to succeed, we just need them to work on their culture of communication and setting expectations

I picked up my R1T in Nov 22. I confirmed my configuration with power tonneau, and I think 3 days later Rivian announced they were temporarily stopping the power tonneau. It was delivered with a working power tonneau. One of the times it was in for service (Brooklyn, summer 2023) for something else, I asked them to cycle the tonneau, just to make sure it worked while they had it, and they said it did, and they greased the travel rails.

I think I had it in for a unrelated service in March 2024 (Gaithersburg) , and Rivian called me a month or two later to schedule my power tonneau for replacement in May 2024 (this time at Trenton, also guessing at the date). I was somewhat annoyed they couldn't fix it when it was at Gaithersburg, but I guess they didn't have parts then. I never called or reported the tonneau as broken (it wasn't), unless they identified a problem with it when it was in for service previously, Rivian just told me on the phone they were replacing them all proactively. When I dropped it off they said it would be 7-14 days, it took 13. I don't know how long they actually worked on it. They told me when I picked up they did not recommend greasing the travel rails this time, they felt like the grease would just attract and hold dirt/dust/grime. I had a F-150 Enterprise rental when it was in Trenton.

I picked up my 24 R1T at the Portland service center late May 24’ when we went out to go over the truck for pickup I saw it had the tonneau on it. I remarked that I thought it would have to be added later and was told mine was the first they had seen from the factory with new version installed. He then added that more had come in without so he assumed there was another shortage going on. I guess I just got really lucky. I’ve had a manual tonneau on almost all of my trucks. I use them quite a bit so it has been used a lot in the last 5 months. I’ve had zero issues with it. (Knocking on wood)

I'm still not sure why they replaced mine (Mar 2022 delivery), when the original worked perfectly. Rivian told me, it was part of their program. It was scheduled a few Saturdays ago, took 2.5 hours and it was done the same day.

PTC installed on Friday as scheduled. They finished in one day and the servicing included some proactive maintenance. Was a great experience (new Seattle Service Center).

Here is my experience. May 10th delivery date. PTC installed on Oct 11th after a 2 month delay due to parts shortage. Great service experience in West Sacramento. Less than one day install turnaround. PTC works great so far.

Adding another data point - took delivery in May of my 2023 R1T quad. In July or so they scheduled me end of August, but then needed to reschedule twice. Dropped the truck off at the SC this past Friday, picking it up in a couple of hours today (Monday).

No loaners available, but gave me $150 Uber credits for the ride home from the SC, as well as another $150 for when I get it later. They also use Zipcar but since I was leaving on a trip Friday didn't need/want to deal with that.

They also proactively are replacing the 12v battery.
