Grumpy Rivian drivers no wave

What’s up with fellow Rivian owners in my part of NJ?! There is a growing number of us on the road and, like when driving our Wrangler, I wave or (in the absence of an ‘official’ Rivian greet) flash my lights. The response? Nothing, zilch, nada. They don’t even look as they go past. Obviously jealous that they wish they’d spec’ed El Cap on 22’s but I can’t help their shortsightedness!

I’ve been very surprised how many Rivian owners wave out here in CO! Probably a 90% success rate in the month that I’ve owned my truck.

Except people in Wranglers. When I drive our Wranglers, people all are waving like crazy. The Jeep Wrangler community is super solid.

I'm in Northern New Jersey and have been flashed by other Rivians, but didn't flash back. I didn't want to flash first and seem pretentious to expect other Rivian owners to want a flash, and by the time I got flashed, there was no time to flash back... Sorry, I'll flash first next time

We see several Rivian's a week. In our experience the other drivers are oblivious.

My office overlooks an EA station and we've seen a big uptick in R1Ss.

I've given thumbs up or quickly flashed my lights in the past, as others have done to me, but not every time. Sometimes I'll see one and it just doesn't register in my mind if I am thinking about something else. Sometimes I am just looking at the traffic ahead of me.

And no, I don't always wave in my Jeep. I'll usually wave back, but not initiate. But Jeeps are very common, it can be annoying at times. Maybe I'm just antisocial.

Don't take it personally. Many people are oblivious to recognizing other vehicles on the road.

It’s maybe a bit less than a 50% acknowledgement rate up here in the Seattle area

But I wouldn’t expect any different, Seattle Freeze and all. And, I don’t always feel like it either.

Months ago, I would get all kinds of reactions, from waving to lights flashing over and over. I even practiced the Rivian wink and tried that a few times. But lately, I get nothing. People just see another Rivian, maybe it's just not exciting anymore.

There’s so many Rivians where I live, I’d be waving every few minutes. I don’t really like it. If someone waves I politely wave back.
i didn’t like the Jeep wave either. There’s like a million Jeeps here in California.

PNW Rivian owners, especially here in Oregon, have been super friendly for the most part. Lot's of excited waves. I couldn't believe how arrogant they were in the Bay Area, however. 180 degrees different.
