Someone should organize a Blue Ridge Parkway and forest road drive in Western NC. It's a common area for multi day car meets and there are many interesting places to ride and visit.
Was thinking about a BR parkway day trip starting from Ashville, NC October 22/23 weekend. seems to be a very popular time though with the leaves turning...

Took a trip from Greenville, SC up to Asheville, NC and then back to Greenville by way of Brevard, NC.

Started at the EA 350kw DCFC station to get a good charge before leaving on the trip. Got up to 80% SOC and felt good about that for the trip. Turned out to be more than enough.

Drove up and walked around downtown for a bit, then headed to New Belgium because they have free chargers and got a beer and a tasty bbq pork sandwich. Added about 11kwh for free courtesy of New Belgium.

Met a few folks and gave the rundown to some curious people in the parking lot. Got plenty of stares (my fly wasn't down, I checked). Left from New Belgium and headed to the Blue Ridge Parkway for some scenic views and tire shredding as allowed by traffic. The views were lovely, the truck was incredible. Sport Mode, High Regen, let the car do the work.

Pure Driving Bliss.

I know it probably doesn't drive like a Porche 911 or a sports car but my word is it fun. I almost can't describe how incredible it was ripping through turns. The responsiveness and incredible torque allows you to just leap out of turns and there always seems to be more to give than you need. What an incredible machine. It was absolutely the most fun day of driving I have ever had. I have never done a competitive driving course or track day, but I felt like Travis Pastrana. Glamour Shot time!

Made it back to the same EA Station this afternoon to top back off and look at pictures. Courtesy to the Pixel 6 Pro and Magic Eraser for making it look like I was the only one on the Blue Ridge Parkway today.

I didn't reset my trip computer before leaving (rookie mistake), but using my first and last charge and knowing what I got at New Belgium, I calculate that I used about 82kwh of juice to drive 183 miles through the mountains. My calculator says that's good for 2.22mi/kwh with quite a bit of aggressive driving in there thanks to some excessive gravity and regen.

TL;DR: If you live anywhere in this region, do this drive or something like it in your Rivian. It was an incredible experience.
That green is gorgeous...great pictures! I had that color picked but switched to Glacier White after getting my "confirm configuration" email. The switch delayed me a month. I don't regret the white at all, but I would have been plenty happy with the Forest Green, especially after seeing your pictures of it in the NC mountains!

I've seen a lot of the US and there are some absolutely beautiful places across the country, but I'd be hard pressed to name one that's head and shoulders above the Blue Ridge when the leaves are turning.
This is from a spot on Hwy 221 between Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mtn yesterday. Nice windy road, lots of great color with trees overhanging most of the road. Also drove the blue ridge parkway, the overlooks were pretty spectacular.
