Rivian has a beautiful light bar & presuming regulations support it, what do you think of achievement unlocks to display (as an option if you choose) badges on your lightbar, a few ideas:
  • 26.2 badge - unlocks if you drive to GPS coordinates of a marathon event & the vehicle is stationary during the whole race or something
  • Buffalo badge - unlocks if you take your Rivian to Yellowstone Nat'l Park
  • Half-Dome badge - unlocks if you take your Rivian to Yosemite Nat'l Park
I'm thinking this combines tech/game trophy concepts & the badges end up being abstractions of boy-scout or girl-scout patches as achievements, so to me it seemed like a great fit for Rivian's corporate goal to get people out adventuring, thoughts?

I figure this concept could expand exponentially & become a fun way for people to customize their own Rivians without putting a bumper sticker on what I would want to keep spotless & immaculate, given how gorgeous the design is.

Also, yes I'm self-aware enough to see just how granola these ideas are - it's perhaps a bit on the nose for the outdoorsy ethos, but still, thought I'd see what the community thinks.

Think of this as similar to what Subaru offers (love it or hate it, just so you know where the idea is coming from):

Will become almost as annoying as those people who put the stick figure families on their cars or even worse their instagram handle.

This is not even in the same zip code as the Instagram handle and not on the same planet of bad as putting your cash app link.

Oh surely it could definitely spin out into that if Rivian wasn't careful, but I do like the idea of a digital version being a bit more refined than a decal that permanently ruins the finish & paint, plus which peels off...

I vehemently detest the gamification of cars with app icons and merit badges of any kind. What's the point of a 26.2 sticker or symbol on your car? Or the Jesus fish ? Or the COEXIST Sticker? Putting them on a light bar does not make them better.

Haha, so the whole idea is bleergh? or does it just need a redesign? honestly curious here what people who hate it are responding to.
I'm all for gamification! Maybe a community app to track this, but to clutter the vehicle with these icons I think is :puke: ;)

Nobody is expecting you to have good taste on this one Donny.
There’s nothing wrong with personalizing your car, and I have excellent taste.

Yeah see that's kinda what I'm thinking too - it's a fine line & I was trying to size them, add bloom, see how it actually might look, and I could see myself going on either side of this one.

On the one hand, never shall a bumper sticker hit my Rivian once I have it, on the other hand, kinda like the idea of showing some love to the places I've been.

Still though, I experimented with other logos, like the NPS logo, and some are just too busy to work here, so it might not be a concept that has legs.

Still I feel like there's something they could do with these lightbars - perhaps these activate only if you're in Camp Mode or something vs. driving?
