Over on other social media the trolls like to say "Insurance on a Rivian is 100x that of a normal vehicle!" and other such nonsense. I waste entirely too much time arguing, to no avail.

But was surprised to see Nationwide actually sent me a refund on my insurance this morning. Guess they're not getting as many claims as they thought, or maybe my area has become safer (all the other Northern Virginia people will laugh at this). It's not much but hey, I'll take it!

No real reason for this post, Just sharing because it made my day. ?

We traded in our Tesla model Y for an R1T and our insurance dropped 20%. And that is with the same insurance company because we cannot get Rivian’s insurance here in Florida.

I switched over my cars (+RV) to Rivian (Nationwide) and it was half that of All State, which was nice but I've also read on other posts that come renewal time that might be part of a clever bait and switch ploy on their part where is will jump way back up. Wait and see on that I guess!

Haven’t seen Pappy Van Winkle in a long time (Ca) I’m still looking …?
You can buy it online if you want to spend the money. I feel like there is plenty of good bourbon at my local store that I can actually afford :)

A tactic that is not unique to Nationwide. All of the natural disasters in recent past, as well as what is happening in recent days, has the insurance industry raising rates and tightening belts. More bad news to come on costs, I think. Brace yourselves.

Refund due to a recent change in your policy, such as your deductible has doubled.

That DID make me laugh.

Lived in Alexandria and Fairfax area for most of the '00s and had to commute every day. My wife (then fiance) moved out to work at a practice in Georgetown after Vet. School. Took about 3 months of living and commuting before she said she was moving back to Central Illinois and if I still wanted to get married I needed to follow.

Still travel back to DC area for business frequently and I think the roads and drivers are WORSE than it was when I first moved there 24 years ago.
