Great, it seems like you are happy with them. Your truck probably didn't know what to do being in conserve mode for that long. ;)

It looks like the inch reduction in contact patch might help you out. That was the deciding factor for me going with the Goodyears (i.e. improved traction). On a heavy vehicle like the Rivian, I wanted more tire, not less. The Michelins weren't even 8" across. Just looking at that, they'd have a significant advantage over most tires in terms of efficiency but likely braking would be worse and that showed up in the tire ratings.

I wanted more contact patch for braking and handling performance. I feel like, for the first time with my truck, everything is almost as it should be. The tires are a big part of that for me. Finally, the wind noise is mostly under control. The topper really is a nice addition for daily use. The halfshaft noise is present but minimal.

I still want a bit more power but I am at the point I've come to terms with what it has. The urge to spend another $50k and buy a new quad, has significantly diminished now that I've fixed a lot of the issues. I am worried I might get some new issues that are harder to resolve.

That is the one good thing about the G1 trucks; most of the issues are pretty well known by now. So I am pretty comfortable with the issues. With the G2 trucks, there could be a whole host of new issues that are waiting to be discovered. I am pretty comfortable with the devil I know at this point.

Interesting that I drove the Dual R1T with the Pirelli 21" OEM. I got exactly the same efficiency as the R1S. Personally, if I have to do it over again, I would get the Quad R1T just like the R1s. I'm not a big fan of Enduro motor due to its loud noise. I wouldn't get a gen 2 either.

I guess it just goes to show you that the quad in conserve mode isn't that bad. Not giving up much efficiency for the additional performance. I like the motor whine better from the quad Bosch motors than the enduro motors too.

looks good, 2 MPK against the wind and 2.3 MPK with…any idea why the 95 mile stretch was 2.5 MPK? Maybe slower speed or downhill or something else (different temp)?

I just looked at the teslafi data. The wind picked up from 10 miles tail wind to 17 mph. Oklahoma to Texas is fairly flat and it looks like my son who drove the car did slow down a tiny bit.

It has been a while since I posted an update. I had a chance to drive about an hour each way at higher than normally speeds in some really challenging conditions. Outbound I was doing at least 70 mph true and coming back at leat 80 mph. I had the AC on, still rocking my topper, and I was in conserve mode.

I had some hellacious crosswinds for almost the entire trip and for all the times where I tracked it with the trip computer (TC). The winds at least 17 mph and gusting to 40 mph. One of the few times I've really felt my truck getting blown around. It was causing semis to change lanes at times.

I learned a few interesting things. My quad will hit the speed limiter in conserve mode without any drama and quicker than I thought it would. The Territory ATs did remarkably well in a full-on, throw-out-the-another stop at 80mph to avoid a massive debris spill on the road that covered the entire road. A G1 quad, even with only 24% SoC, is still quicker than a Cayman from 80 to the speed limiter. Lastly, if running Comma.Ai, once you hit 96, you get the message "Speed Too High, model uncertain at this speed" message.

Still loving the tires. Still no noise issues or vibration even at vmax. Absolutely love my topper too. The fall off in efficiency wasn't as bad as I thought it would be when I bumped my speeds from 70 mph average to 80 mph. Also, keep in mind that 70 mph on my TC is actually a real-world 71-72 on my GPS, and 80 mph on the TC is actually 82 according to the GPS. I have no idea why the TC never catches up with the actual speed.

Given the very bad crosswinds, I am shocked the numbers are as good as they are. The terrain wasn't even remotely level, with a lot of rolling hills. This has negatively impacted my efficiency whenever I've tested before, compared to having it relatively flat. The downhills never make up for the uphill sections.

I appreciate the tires even more given all the crappy roads I drove on today with massive potholes. They also allow me to use the low suspension setting in areas where with my 21's, I'd have to be in standard ride height.

Using the new energy monitor

I’ve got about 3800 miles on these tires now.
50 mile round trip this morning, 77-79 degrees. Didn’t notice wind.
About half was way 65-70. Other half was surface streets at 35-40 with stoplights, stop signs, etc.
2.71 average.
24.3 used, 5.7 regen, 1 climate and 1 systems.

Updating. Have 10,000 on them with one tire rotation. Tread still looking good. More (proportionally) winter driving than with OEM21s but it's getting close. Still happy with the switch. As stated before, not quite as smooth or quiet as the 21s but very close.

Yes, I’m happy. Still quiet road noise for me - especially compared to the old 20 drone lived with for thousands of miles!
