Thanks for sharing. Did you drive from east to west or west to east on 635? What time of day was it and I'll check the winds. Off hand you are seeing lower than I am seeing but I need to check the winds to see how much lower.
Going east to west at 7 pm. It is 635 express so more than half of that miles are underground with no wind

I went back and looked through my runs. The closest I could find was a little faster than yours, and running with the AC on, I was in the 2.3-2.35 range. I am going to make some runs tomorrow and see what I get without AC on at 70 mph.

Something I hadn't considered until recently.
I noticed poor efficiency on a trip to San Diego, not 100% sure but I felt like the air compressor was running a lot more than usual…car was also very heavy so that likely had some impact as well…just something to consider if you hear it running during the 10-15 minute test and efficiency is much lower than normal.

I'm following this thread with great interest from a long-term value perspective. My Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLTs (true all-terrains) have been outstanding - I'm at nearly 50,000 miles with at least another 5,000 left in them. While they seem to be about 5% less efficient than what I'm seeing reported here, the tradeoff has been worth it for the durability and performance. I'll definitely be getting another set for my R1T when the time comes.

That said, my wife's R1S seems better suited to the Goodyears vs the Scorpions on there now. Factor in really quiet and smooth and it could be more suitable for her. The math gets trickier if they only last 30,000 miles though - that longevity/efficiency balance is always the tough calculation with AT tires. Looking forward to hearing real-world mileage experiences with Goodyears.

I would be thrill if this good year last 30K miles in texas roads. Remembered, this is not a true AT tires according to @B Digs

the Goodyear were amazingly smooth and quiet for me. Sadly I decided to exit mine in 30 days due to worries about how long they would last.
I was down to 9/32 after just 2k miles. With that trend I wouldn’t have lasted even a year before needing a change again.

im on the Nokian nAT now, while not as smooth as GY, they get close and have tread warranty

Interesting to hear. I'm curious about how you're using yours.

I've done fairly high speed running, a lot of acceleration runs for testing, towed for several hundred miles, loaded up my truck a fair amount and I might be down 1/32" in about 3k miles. I've been checked them every 1k miles and about due for another check.

I like my tires a lot but I'm not married to any tire. If I have issues, I'll report it. If they still continue to be great, I'll report it as well.

just normal PNW driving for me. I wonder if it’s due to the roads here going up and down in elevation very frequently?

So I did 70 mph test for 9 miles driving thru the 635 express and got 2.18. All purpose.

However this is my total drive from dest a to b via teslafi which 9 miles of those belong to the 70 mph test

In the interest of helping everyone else, I am posting what I wrote to Lance in a DM and removing anything that might be personal and clarifying some Dallas shorthand.

"Not exactly the best conditions to run. Winds were 17 gusting to 31 mph. I started the trip computer when I entered at Hillcrest (to follow the same route as LL75 635 Exrpess lanes which have TOU pricing) and got up to 70 mph according to the GPS. FYI - I took one for the team today, the toll was $7.15!

Anyway, there was a ton of buffeting with the winds even in the express lane. I went for 7.4 miles and was getting 2.34 mpk.

I started out using the 635 express lane again but they they pushed us out for roadwork. So, I ended up coming back down DNT (Dallas North Tollway) with that crosswind now a headwind right on my nose 21+ gusting into the mid 30 mph range. At least it was only $4.20 for the 2 miles I got to drive it. I was at 2.05 mpk for the return with the winds just pounding the truck.

Below is a shot of what I was getting on DNT with the headwinds right on the nose.

All runs were in AP at standard ride height. I think that is what you usually run. I didn't have any AC on but did run the fan.

So after 16% battery usage and $11+ in tolls, you (everyone) should have some reference info that should be directly comparable to LL75's run yesterday.

Rivian R1T R1S Goodyear Territory AT 275/60/20 Factory AT tires + saving $ bat25Red

I didn't do this exhaustive of testing with my factory 21's so I don't really know how it would compare. The efficiency was so much worse that my Teslas I don't think 2.3 or 2.5 mpk would have been material to me. When my 3 is over 4 mpk and my Plaid is mid 3's and I drive them so much faster than my Rivian.

I do know that my overall MPK is better now with my GY's than they were with the 21 Pirellis by a few percent and I drove my GY's in the coldest weather and most miles since I've owned the truck since late Sept. I swapped out for the GY's in the first week of Jan just before we got the coldest weather."

Hope this helps everyone else. The 635 express lanes are a bit subterranean at first but I could still feel the winds down below and then toward the end of my run, I came up and got the full force of the crosswind.

So for reference, LL75 was at 2.18 and I was at 2.34 on the same section of road and his winds were pretty calm yesterday and I had very strong crosswinds the entire way.

Tire tread wear update @ ~3k miles: Wear is good, used about 0.8/32nds in 3100 miles.

I just hit 3100 miles with my tires, and it was time to do another tread depth check. So far, the tread wear looks good. I am at about 10/32nd's all around. Just a touch more at the rear than the front.

As a side note, I have used conserve mode fairly extensively at times. Mainly on the highway, but I've tried it around town as well. I do try to take off more gently when I do that. It hasn't destroyed my front tires as I've read that some people have experienced here. Maybe I am more gentle when I use it than others.

Anyway, according to @B Digs , the tires started with 10.8/32nds. Based on current usage, I am using about 1/32nd for every 3800 miles if I pro-rate it. Keep in mind this isn't an exact measurement but I am probably in the ballpark +/- 300 miles per 32nd. It will be easier to tell once I have even more miles on the tires.

At this point, I am not seeing anything concerning, and tread wear seems decent considering the capabilities of the tire. I will rotate the tires at 5k miles. I also plan to have an alignment done when they finally get me in as part of normal maintenance, as the steering wheel has never seemed to be centered on my truck, even accounting for some road crowning.

The saga continues with new data points along with my new addition. Some of you might be aware, some of us went in on a group buy with Autofitpro for a topper. There is a fairly long thread here if you want to know more.

Since there has been a significant configuration change, any efficiency numbers I post won't be diretly comparable to before. I did make some runs today to try and baseline it. On the plus side my efficiency didn't tank. I also ran some runs at higher speeds too.

Following are 2 photos of a 70 mph run. The first one was taken as a reached the high point after trending upwards for the first ~5 miles. The last one was when I had to abort the run as traffic was building. Overall the MPK is pretty solid. Call it between 2.24 to 2.28 with a crosswind. These numbers were with the topper on and a slight crosswind (5-7 mph). I was in AP mode, standard height. Temps were mid 60's. No heat or AC. These compare very favorably with my non-topper runs.

The last run is one is one I've never tested without the topper so I don't have any comparative data. It was an 80 mph run. I was out doing some high speed stability testing and I had a pretty clear road so set the cruise at 82 mph indicated, 81 according to the GPS and Comma, and let it rip for a while. I did some pulls up to almost the speed limiter to check the stability and it was rock solid.

This was with a slight headwind of about 5 mph. Again AP mode, standard height, no AC or heat, temps about 65F. No slowdowns at all on this run and a few times I was up to 85.

I guess with the topper I could call this my R1S config. I would think anyone with an R1S should easily be able to get the numbers I am getting. Here is looking at you @LL75 ;). Heck even at 80 mph, I'd have a 235 mile range.

For my entire so far, I am at 1.91 mpk. Given how much time I spent near the ton, and at high speeds cruising, that was pretty good for the day so far.

I have to say, the tires look great with the topper which sort of has a rugged look. The topper didn't add to the wind noise either. Pretty impressed with the topper. Still no noise from the tires either and were still smooth as butter over the ton. I am sure the Atomic Wheels AW01 aren't hurting that either.

I'm having the 22" Michelin Defender LTX 115's put on the front of the Rivian right now. We'll see what the range and performance looks like. Just a hole in one of the pirellis and just couldn't keep it patched/filled up any longer.

It is sad to say that I am dropping out of this tires for my R1s. At 3k miles and I got a dreadful 2.03 mkw on all purpose setting in this nice weather. I can't imagine what it would be during the winter time. Since my son 's silverado needs some new tires, I decided to give this set to him and bought the michelin defender LTX M/2 in the same size 275/60/20. I will give a report on the new set soon. Thanks to @DayTripping and @B Digs for lots of info and testing on this tires. I do believed that there is something wrong with my set itself since the numbers doesn't add up like others. However, no way I can prove this.

Good luck, Lance! I'll be curious to see how the Michelins treat you, as those were my other tires that I was considering. It was down to those and the GYs. Let me know when you start posting on the LTX's so I can follow along.

For reference, here is my worst day with the GY's outside of when I got them in the winter and was hooning with them. Seems like the numbers you are getting. Difference is I had my topper on and good chunk of the time I was driving over the ton doing some testing with the topper. Electrafi seems to lag and never gets the true max speed unless I am there for a long time.
