With my DM R1T I’m at 6,200 miles on my GY’s and getting them rotated today cause the fronts are looking more noticeably worn. Fronts measured 7/32, 6/32 and both rears 9/32. Don’t think these tires are going to go past 20k unless Rivian gives us that option to lock in the rear motor for full time AWD. It’s a bummer cause I really love these tires.

Rotations are important and will help extend the life of the tire. I did my first rotation at the recommended 7500 miles, but more frequent could be helpful.

I didn't know that about the G1 DMs.

I plan to rotate them every 5k. Still love the tires so far.

I would really love to have an "AWD lock" button. Even if I have to hit it every time. Snow Mode locks in AWD, but mutes the throttle and regen more than I like. Using reduced stability makes an indicator light on the dash turn on that I don't like.

With that said, I'm not seeing absurdly high wear on the fronts as compared to the rears.

Wow, sounds like you should be rotating at 5k, max, maybe even less…you want front to be within 1/32 of the rear…

I think it has a lot to do with where you live. Texas and Florida roads will eat up tires more. I went thru 2 sets of tires already and none of them go pass 20K miles (Oem 21" and General grabber) This goodyear probably won't either.

On a diferent note about efficiency. My Goodyear is current at 2500 miles with a dismal 2.05 kwh in all purpose and auto height. I'm leaning more toward something is wrong with my tires since I see others on here reported much better effiency most notable @DayTripping and @B Digs. I'm clueless of why that is. Any thoughts?
I do love the way it looks, but disappointed about the efffiency. I'm thinking about swap it to the Michelin LTX M/2 or go back to the General grabbers that I had before, and put this goodyear tires in my Silverado.

I am not sure what could be wrong with your tires but there could always be something. When I did the analysis before buying mine, based on what Rivian says, there would be about a 5% hit in efficiency compared to other tires.

Can you try an experiment? Go somewhere where it is pretty flat, run the truck at 70 mph for 10 miles with no AC if you can, and see what efficiency you are getting. I have a lot of data I can directly compare for that speed.

Just set the cruise for an indicated 71 mph and it should be very close to 70 mph true. Check a weather app and see what the winds are and the temps.

I'll try to do this one day this coming week where it is not too windy on George Bush going toward Plano.

48psi cold is what you should be doing, especially on hot Texas roads.

Capture your battery temp before as well, ideally 80°F+.

Do you do a lot of short trips? Cold motors and batteries are less efficient. So, many short trips will be less than a couple long ones.

I'm not doing much outside of the norm comparable to other tires that we had before. The grabbers and OEM 21" pirelli. The car is preconditions daily in the morning before work. Maybe the battery is not absolutely optimal but the over all number for 2500 miles is sub par imo

So I did 70 mph test for 9 miles driving thru the 635 express and got 2.18. All purpose.

However this is my total drive from dest a to b via teslafi which 9 miles of those belong to the 70 mph test

15.83 Miles Driven

36,777.78 - 36,793.61
8.41 kWh

1.88mi/kWh
Cost
$1.05
Avg
48 mph

Max
71 mph

Thanks for sharing. Did you drive from east to west or west to east on 635? What time of day was it and I'll check the winds. Off hand you are seeing lower than I am seeing but I need to check the winds to see how much lower.
