These look great, and are super solid. Installation was not a big deal, with the most annoying part being the mods to the plastic panels to fit around them. And one of the panel bolts was made of garbage Chinesium so the head snapped off. Not sure what my solution will be here.

These are a new version without the step cover, which I find to be hideous.

I left the truck in high mode, and it's nice to have the step now. I had these (same guy made them) on several Jeeps over the years. I've had both the straight-out style and the angle-up style. These are the flat/straight type. I think I'd prefer the angled, though I'm not sure if he's making those for the Rivian. But that's the only thing I'd change, and it's a marginal want.

The doors are so close to the bottom, if you angled up, you'd either have to start lower, or climb in through the window... ;)

Oh, right, good point. I just looked, there's maybe 1" of clearance now. Can't angle them.

How do you like them without the top plate. I see it as an option, and I was kinda leaning that way, but I'm worried my kids will slip through while using them as a step...

I've had the same rails on multiple vehicles, and haven't seen an issue. They are fine to put a foot on. Is there risk? I think so, but man, it looks so minimal. Also you could add tread tape on top. Here's a pic looking down, with my wife's size 7 minimalist shoes. She and I both wear extremely lightweight thin shoes, a normal one is about 3/4" larger in every direction. I just absolutely hate the look of the step plate version.

I suppose that a comparison to the EV Sportline steps is warranted. All indications are that those use very thin tubing, but I haven't seen them in person. They use a TON more attachment points. I actually screwed up by looking at their docs, and starting to take off all the crap that they make you do. Then realized, these have far fewer fasteners, probably because they are so much more solid. I'd love to do a side by side comparison.
