This is a great first sum up. I can't wait for you to have more adventures with it and report back to headquarters. Thanks so much for sharing!GFC installed the V2 Pro camper on my R1T in Belgrade on Wednesday, October 9. I am waiting to share something of a review until I have more experience with it. My background is that this is my first pickup with camper, having previously had a Sprinter campervan (combustion, ugh). In the meantime, I offer this:
1. It paid me to drive from Colorado to their location in Montana, saving sales tax and fees, plus enjoying a beautiful, if smoky, drive through Wyoming and across southern Montana, plus, there's more: they are great folks to work with in person!
2. It looks marvelous, simply marvelous, actually enhancing the appearance of my Glacier White R1T. And that's not just me saying that: as I have made my way east to Minnesota, others along the way have said it looks great as well.
3. Build quality is very good. Comfy mattress. Tough tent material. Strong zippers. Strong aluminum topper. Nifty design of removable platform sections. Bed camera fine. Rail buttons fine. Overhang of bed over cab is secured to R1T crossbar attachment points. Fairing in front of that.
4. No precipitation yet, so no info on water resistance.
5. No high winds overnight yet, so no info on noise from sleeping through that.
6. While driving, ever so slight wind noise. I do not mind it at all, as my brain quickly filtered it out. Really slight.
7. No interference with operation of the shark fin antenna.
8. Truck handles almost as well as before. I feel crosswinds moreso than before, as expected.
9. And now, the moment we've all been waiting for: impact on range. This is not science, rather this is my impression. Range has decreased maybe 10%. That was my expectation.
10. Overall, after a few days of use, I am a happy camper.
Picture of truck front shows my contribution to decreasing the mosquito population in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.
I was at the GFC shop today getting my camper installed and asked about the topper. First one was built a couple of weeks ago and is headed down to LA soon for testing. They said it could be six months till it’s in production as they want to get it right.GFC told me a few weeks ago that they have not started on the topper at all and have no timeline.
Nice meeting you today!
I’m a huge fan so far
Hi Josh... nice looking rig! It was my understanding that the V2 Pro included the 3-piece headliner, is that not the case? (It doesn't appear you have it) TIAI’ll get more pics and a review soon, but in case anybody wants to see a black GFC on a forest green R1T, here you go! I’m super happy with the quality, install, and customer service from the GFC team today. Now just need to drive back 14 hours by tomorrow morning!
It does! GFC is making them as fast as they can and shipping them out after installation of the camper. Hopefully soon they'll have enough in stock to provide it at installation. Looks like self-install is super quick.Hi Josh... nice looking rig! It was my understanding that the V2 Pro included the 3-piece headliner, is that not the case? (It doesn't appear you have it) TIA
Yeah, we ran into a freak supply chain issue with the headliner material and had to kinda create a whole new supply and manufacturing process around it. That's in the final stages of being resolved, we've been slowly catching up in the meantime, and will be able to massively accelerate getting everyone their headliners very soon. Sometimes it's the most unexpected things that cause the biggest headaches. It does! GFC is making them as fast as they can and shipping them out after installation of the camper.
