I've read GM is also trying to prevent the absurd markups on the Lyriq and Z06 also. I think GM sees Fords recent image issues, aren't really Ford's fault, its their dealer network. The same dealers probably own GM dealerships also. I think GM is trying to get ahead of it, they don't want dealers short term sales goals ruining GMs long term reputation. The fact GM can't sell directly to consumers is one reason people are going to Tesla, and soon Rivian.

I am sure there will be a bunch of dealers that will try to call ford's and GMs bluff. Will be funny when their allocations are taken away leading to a ton of loss profit.
