Folks have reported that a recent OTA update greatly improved the audio experience. When I pick up my R1T Tri in two weeks I'll delineate my observations. Drive well.
I think shitty is an over-exaggeration to a large degree. Yes it's not as good as the Meridian, but it's still better than my i4's stereo. I would consider it reasonable, and I don't understand how anyone could characterize it as shitty.

The Meridan Dolby Atmos doesn't sound great either some times. Some songs completely lose their sound or there are instruments in the song missing through Apple music and others sound really off. I've given up on the native apple music app and just stream off my phone now since I can also ask Siri to play different songs.
Must depend on music type because I find the Meridian sounds excellent. I just have one song where it seems to drop a bit of the bass track, but I blame my equalizer settings.
Yes, you're right about the inconsistency of Dolby Atmos from the Rivian built Apple Music Meridian. I just clicked the next button.
