Picked up my R1T lease on 12/30 and had this issue start showing up shortly after. Mobile service did come out and check the connectors in the gear tunnel door and under the bed as well. One or two were potentially loose and were reseated but the issue has persisted. The alert comes and goes randomly (so far it has been when its colder out). It will pop on the alert, give me the performance hit, then go away after 3-4 seconds. But it will repeat 5-6 times together before it tends to go away.

I'm wondering whether anyone else had a similar issue and what was done to fix it.

Thanks

I had the exact same thing happen to my R1T. I picked up the truck on 11/28/23 and on 12/15/23, I had my first false "Open Gear Door" notice. It was intermittent, so I got out and opened and closed the door. A few minutes later, same thing so I slammed the door closed. Seemed to fix it for a few days. When the problem came back, I called Rivian support and was advised to perform a soft reset of the infotainment system and, if that didn't work, perform a hard reset. I performed the soft reset in my garage, but didn't drive the truck for a few days. Rivian service guy called back asking if they could close the ticket, but I asked them to keep it open for another week. A few days later problem happened again. I was just accelerating though an intersection and the truck was in "turtle-mode". Pulled over and performed a soft reset. Drove a few miles more and the warning reappeared. Performed and "hard reset". Problem persisted, so I managed to limp home and schedule a time to drop the truck off at a service center about 30 minutes away. I managed to get the truck to the service center with the warning intermittently occurring. Left the truck and got a rental car. After a week at the service center, they reported they couldn't duplicate the problem. They indicated that error logs did show multiple warnings, so they knew it wasn't my imagination. I suggested they take it on long drives through rough roads. A few more days later, they still couldn't duplicate the problem, so I offered to come down and drive it around myself. They agreed. I came to the center and drove it for about an hour and couldn't duplicate the problem, so I decided to take the truck home. I asked them if they did anything and the service guy gave me a vague "we reset a bunch of stuff" answer. Nothing pointed to a solid fix. I've had the truck for about 10 days and have not seen the problem, so they must have done something.

I'm currently having this issue now. My R1T was just towed to a service center and I'll update with the remedy after it's been repaired.

Any updates on this? My truck just started doing this again. Last year it did this and they replaced the rear zone controller plus its wiring harness at the service center.

We had this issue , or at least very similar (the alert did not go away), at pick up of our gen2 truck back on the 13th December, truck was in turtle mode the very 1st time we tried to put it in drive. They took it through the back and worked on it for 30 mins; the door catch needed alignment to properly register as closed - though they seemed to do some of the work by *slamming* the tunnel door into submission based on what we could hear from the lobby. Its not come back since - but don't have anywhere near enough miles on the truck to know if its resolved for sure yet.

No update yet unfortunately. Currently in a Enterprise Kia Ev6 rwd while my $80k truck sits in the shop with no expected completion date. Smh
