I noticed this as well with the gate entrance. I thought the HOA may have changed something, since it used to work quite a distance away with just a one click press. Now, it doesn’t and I’ll have to try the long press to see how that works.

No change, just a tap as I hit the driveway and it's up. Same when I leave, tap on the way out and it's down.

It’s not the same for everybody tho, nd…me included. Long press, wait, hope, cuss…then the door moves. It didn’t used to do that.

No issues. It's always been a long-press for me. I thought it was supposed to be.

Have any of you complaining about issues tried a reset yet? The appropriate (soft or hard) reset should be your first go to if you have an issue.

Same thing for me. I need a longer, deliberate press for it to work. Wasn't that way originially. It's been maybe a month.

Not complaining…making observations….a yes.…reset changed nothing. I just don’t remember having to do a long press…but there’s a few items I’m not remembering these days! Haha

The length of the press changed.
However if you don't notice, it's probably because you pressed longer than those of us who noticed a change --- before the change. We're the "tap and go" crowd, let's call it. You're the "press and hold" crowd.

I'd love for Rivian to weigh in and say "yep we made a 100 millisecond adjustment in the button response to stop accidental button pressing" or some engineering speak.
Our responses:
The "press and hold"... No you didn't.
The "touch and go" crowd" Why?
😂

Happy new year to everyone.

I mean, as soon as the dash icon comes up, I tap. A heartbeat later, the door goes up. No change.

I wonder if some people forgot there was that second or so delay. If yes and hitting the button again too soon, they are effectively cancelling the first tap.

Just a thought.

Didn’t forget..entire process a few seconds longer than it was originally. No BFD.

Anyone else notice that their garage door opener isn't working as well as it used to?
I feel like I used to not even think about it and just tap the button while reversing out of my driveway. Now, it seems like I almost need to be at a full stop, looking at the pop-up on my dash (the picture of the Right steering wheel stalk that shows up when I'm close to my house) and VERY DELIBERATELY press and hold the button for it to transmit and close the garage door. Similarly, It never seems to open on the first try any more, where I used to just tap it as I approached my home, maybe 150 yards away.

I wonder if there were customer complaints about the button being "too touchy" or that someone would fat finger the buttons while turning the wheel? It seems like a delay has been added to this functionality, perhaps even a script that requires a more deliberate press when the wheel is turned or the vehicle is in motion?

I really liked the way it used to just work. I got used to the responsiveness (muscle memory). Lately it seems like I end up pressing it like 3 times and then holding it down before it actually transmits. With "long Press" being a different function than "short press" on the opposite stalk, it feels very counter intuitive to need to do this. It's also far more triggering than I'd like to admit and leads to me cussing out my R1S on a daily basis. It's literally the first and last thing I need my car to do, so it's really messing with what used to be a very positive Rivian experience. I've done all the resets.
Anybody else?
Mine keeps appearing on/off/on/off in places way away from home since last update. Also had the no gps for the 2 updates prior to Christmas update.

I just tested this tonight, giving the shortest, lightest taps I could manage and it worked flawlessly each time.

I do not see that, I have garage doors in two different locations and they both work after one tap every time.

There is the same delay I have always seen but within 2 or 3 seconds of tapping the steering wheel button the garage door starts moving.
