Private party sale for that high of miles would be high 70’s from what I’ve seen, so pretty fair price for a trade in.
They want to make money on the trade, too.

I think the buy back price is bad if you have a post-hike sale. IF you paid 75k for the S, then it's not bad at all. But I paid 96k for my R1S before taxes, so it would be a major hit and wouldn't make sense financially to do the trade in.I think it’s bad. At least in my books, having extensive experience with the brands you’re referring to. Lucky I don’t need to worry about that for at least 5 years (which is the minimum time I’m planning on keeping the vehicle).
High-priced BMWs depreciate on average 17-23% in Year 1 and about 40-50% by year 5. So the Rivian is a good chunk worse than that.
I don't think that total lease payments = fair market value. Does it?I suppose it doesn’t matter for cheaper leases: if the lease payments total less than $45K, WA doesn’t charge sales tax on an EV lease. I wonder what happens to the credit then.

Is that an upgrade tho??For those looking to upgrade to a dual motor or max pack,...
Not sure if it bad or not but I would not swap my R1S after a year IF it's trouble free. That's the one thing I always loved about Porsches-they hold their value. It's an expensive vehicle so of course there is a steep depreciation. Go look at Mercedes, BMW, Audi, etc. But $69k for a year old vehicle isn't too bad.
I hear you. But in the winter I can’t do my mountain adventures without L3 charging hard. Some tours are impossible, because there is no charging at all. There, an extra 30 miles each way (60 miles round trip) would actually help a lot, because it would let me get back to my cabin. This is an uncommon use case, for sure.Is that an upgrade tho??
Less HP and torque, marginally longer range for lot more $$...
Really? It makes me consider trade-in!That quote is making me want to stick with my current vehicle.
Will you trade in your higher mileage rig and let me know what they offer? Asking for a friend ?I don't really think so actually or at least I don't agree. Any vehicle will lose 20% of it's value in the first year and this one has high miles for a 1 year old car. Then remember they are not giving retail value for trade-ins.
Max pack aside, it's more efficient and less maintenance motors, auto-conserve mode at highway speeds, and refreshing that warranty period for those higher milage of us nearing the end...Is that an upgrade tho??

I got a quote from Carvana recently in the mid 40s for my 2022 R1T with 51k miles. Will you trade in your higher mileage rig and let me know what they offer? Asking for a friend ?
It is indeed a ‘22. Lots of road trips into the mountains really pile on the miles. I didn’t realize Cars and Bids listed high mileage cars. I think 15K is the highest mileage R1S I’ve seen there. I’ll list it and see what happens. When you say 1yr old, is it a 22 model year? 22k miles on the clock and 69k isn't horrible. Let's remember this is a trade in... That's not private party money. It's not bad for what it is but I wouldn't take that for it when you could easily private sell it for 75. Heck an r1T on cars and bids brought 62k and it had 42k miles.
