You really need trim removal tools and extra care with pulling any of the trim off the Rivian. They have a tendency to become broken.Note to others in the future-- don't try removing the frunk cover on a hot day in direct sun! I started pulling on it carefully, and snapped two clips. I stopped, will try again in the morning.
I'm curious what the hood looks like underneath with that panel removed. I had some body work done on my truck, and after I got the truck back found there is something rattling around inside of there (down by the hood hinges). I'm assuming it's broken pieces of those clips. The body shop said they would take care of it, I'm just curious how easy it will be to fish the broken bits out. I haven't tried removing the panel myself for fear of breaking more clips...Note to others in the future-- don't try removing the frunk cover on a hot day in direct sun! rivian is replacing my trim panel next week, then I’m going to do it. I’m guessing the issue had to do with a combination of heat and a relatively old panel— if I can do it with new plastic in good weather, I feel like I’ll have a better outcome!Abstract Ocean has a removal guide video here and you can see what it looks like underneath:
I removed my panel to install this decal and had no issue with broken clips while taking it off or reinstalling
I didn’t. I still have the parts ready to go, but I’ve been too chicken to actually do it. So far.
