Just received my new R1T by train from Normal. I have many questions about my new technical masterpiece. I was reading one segment and the technical writer talks about the front windshield. I'm old, so I looked up the definition of windshield to check that it may have changed in definition through the ages. To my surprise the definition has NOT changed. So, I presume that the Rivian technical writer was referring to some sort of glass in front of my R1T's windshield. (I haven't found it yet).

https://www.safelite.com/rear-windshield-replacement

Seems pretty accepted to consider there to be a front and rear windshield on every car; Safelite agrees.
Ah, even Safelite is not consistent. Sometimes it's back windshield and sometimes it's just back window. What is the correct answer? (Probably should ask Merriam Webster. Probably like a person on the 5th floor of a building falling to the ground after passing out in a room).

Right, I think the obvious takeaway is that both are widely accepted. Very few things have only one name. And very few words have only one meaning.

It is like calling tissue "Kleenex".....everyone calls them Kleenex even though that is the trademark name and the generic name is "Facial Tissue".

I think that the new population is fine with anything that attempts to get the message across. Spelling has no real value. So some words may just disappear as to and too and brake and break and their and there. Pick a word and use it exclusively or use them if it's easier to spell. U just get two use anything that gets the message across.
