Electric fridges need to breath and will create some heat in an already warm frunk. Not sure that is the best place for maximum efficiency. if one has room, the back seat area is a good option. It’s very easy to setup. I did it in short order, with a piece of plywood, as a proof of concept. Then, ran the connection to the 12v port In the gear tunnel. Others have gotten more involved with their platforms, but it doesn’t take much more than a piece of plywood and a saber saw. Here’s a look at my first, and probably final effort 😊 Note, there is still limited access to the storage area via the passenger side. The foam pieces are just to pad the seat buckle receptacles and the front seat back. BTW, this is a Dometic CFX40.

Will it fit the gear tunnel? Put it in the middle so you can access via the passthrough.

I had a Coleman prior to getting my truck and also fit it in the back seat. Too big for the frunk or gear tunnel. I can put it vertical over the subwoofer, or I can lay it sideways under the tonneau cover in the bed. Mine has a 12V and a 120V adapter.

Mine won’t fit over the subwoofer, without both seats being up, and just barely too tall to sit under any tonneau cover. It does have a 120v hookup, but that would use too much power. I want to stick to 12v to maximize range. Given those limitations, the driver‘s side back seat is perfect and allows for very easy access to the contents. The fact that it was so simple to setup was a plus.

Nicely done. I like the cheap, easy, and reversible mods. I have a CFX35 which fits nicely under the tonneau cover (that's why I bought that model) but if I already had a cooler I would try to find a space to make it fit like you did.

Here’s how I cut the plywood platform. By cutting around the existing seat locating posts, it keeps the platform from moving side to side or backwards. I also glued a couple of rubber padding strips underneath the plywood, where it sits on the plastic seat box, just for protection. The cooler can be secured using straps and the existing child seat mounting points.

I actually used the 120v on two trips, no real effect on range at all.

My little Iceco fits in the frunk (where it does get hot), the back seat on a substrate, or in the gear tunnel. Opening the lid from either of the back seats is an awkward reach angle, but it works.

I have the CFX35 and put it in the same position, only I don't use a piece of plywood, and one longer ratchet strap thread through both handles does the trick.

The fridge is much more efficient in the cab, with the added benefit of me being able to access it while driving.

Looks very similar to mine, although I have my behind the passenger seat, I can reach back at a stop sign and grab a cold water without unbuckling.

Not something I think would be possible for the tunnel location idea that refuses to die

You will lose about 1/4 mile of range per 3 day trip compared to plugging into 12v.
