Fun weekend of overlanding/off-roading.
Spent Thursday night near Clear Lake near Mt Hood, beautiful camping spot next to the late, regretted not bringing my Kayak. Friday night ended up off of the Cascade Lakes HWY after a hike at Smith Rock, not as great of a spot but it was getting late and we got desperate. A nice gravel bike ride in the morning a quick charge in Bend then we ended up in a spot with a great view next to Wikiup Reservoir, since the lake has receded we were a mile from the water. On the way out of the forest I took some OHV trails east of the reservoir, first part (in green) on the map was a fun road to drive on, but then I ended up on the road in red that was not wide enough for my Rivian, since I never know when to turn around I ended up scraping a down tree pretty bad, after some menouvering I got out of the forest, around the tree. The damage mostly to the plastic trim below the gear tunnel door also I ended up pulling the PPF from both gear tunnel doors due to damage and a lot of additional pin striping. Took an angle grinder at the damage and it’s ok, probably try to fill the holes with something. Final night before heading back to Sandy we stayed on top of Four mile Butte near Mckenzie pass for a gorgeous sunset view and a warm night. Also of note the forest roads between Santiam pass and Mckenzie pass were also a great deal of fun.
Moonrise over Clear Lake:
View from the campsite near Wikiup Reservoir
Moonrise from Fourmile Butte
Three Sisters from Fourmile Butte
Damage before the angle grinder:
After:
Map showing trail to avoid east of Wikiup for those that live in the area.
