As noted in the article - since Foxconn doesn’t directly sell vehicles (or anything they manufacture), and already own most of Lordstown’s factory is this going to end up being the Lordstown pick up?

I’m very confused:whatsgoingon:

Looks like a ripoff, low rent Cadillac front end. Not my thing personally, but I do agree with there being a market for such vehicles.

This could be Foxconn’s attempt at getting into OEM contract manufacturing, ala Magna.

I believe they agreed to purchase the factory from Lordstown late last year, so they already have a footprint. And at $100M, this is a tiny investment for them. Seems like a smart move, honestly.

Lordstown Endurance is already in production, so no.
Yeah, I saw they had produced a handful of trucks. I guess that only added to my general confusion. I suppose the other US factory Foxconn is building would eventually be used to make EVs So it wouldn’t be 2 competitors making vehicles in the same building.

I am. But that’s 1 company producing vehicles for other companies. Manga makes $ from all of it. This would be 2 competing companies making vehicles in the same building. Obviously it’s still possible. Just odd to me given how protective these companies are over their tech and processes.

None of the cars Foxconn has unveiled so far are destined to go on sale to consumers but are reference designs, intended to show off the company’s capabilities to potential big-brand clients. The Model C prototype introduced previously is now a production vehicle that is branded as the Luxgen n7 by Taiwanese automaker Yulon Group.
Liu said Foxconn’s expertise in managing supply chains gives it an advantage in developing new models faster than rivals. Asked when Foxconn’s production volumes will surpass those of Tesla, Liu said he hoped Foxconn would one day manufacture cars for the US giant.
