You can tell that's the original prototype because the handles are hinged opposite of the final design. Funny how quickly we forget this is the only example we had to look at for almost 3 years.

^That is one thick tailgate on the R1S, or is it just the D Pillars? Is that a horizontal compartment on the lower portion or just wiper/lighting gear? Does it just provide a big cap upon closing?

Found the 3rd row area seating pics interesting. Doesn't look like much 3rd row leg room, but also notice what looks like 2nd row latch/(tilt?) & sliding capabilities to gain some more room, as needed:

I agree. We can't expect Tahoe- or Sequoia-like 3rd row legroom. I realize the girls in the iJustine videos said there was plenty of room, but that was puffery. Too much trickery in those videos: fisheye lens, 2nd mostly forward and upright, etc. In real life this is not going to be a 3rd row for adults or full grown teens. Even if the legroom is decent with the 2nd row forward, the seat bottom cushion is too low. In vehicles like the Atlas, the bottom cushion recedes on a pivot mechanism when you fold the seat down to create a flat floor, allowing the cushion to be higher when the seat is in use. Here it looks like the seat bottom cushion is fixed in place, meaning it is probably a compromise on height to get a decent load floor.

I may end up waiting for the EV9 (if I even have to wait), which I fully expect will provide Telluride-level 3rd row space and ergonomics, or better.
