Just announced by the Ford CEO on Twitter.

Early 2024 - Adapter coming to allow current Ford EVs to charge at V3 Tesla superchargers, including some software integration.

2025 - they are switching to NACS and the physical port Tesla uses on its customer vehicles. EDIT: no one actually knows. Ford CEO said during MSNBC interview that they would provide an adapter for CCS in 2025 and a EV comms director said it's possible they have both but nothing confirmed.

Rivian needs to give Elon a call.

Meh.. I hope Rivian sticks with CCS. For all the hype on the SC network every time I go to the Fred Meyer in Sandy (today included) I see a Tesla using the EA station and open stalls on the SC.

On second thought this is good for Rivian owners. All those Mach E and Lightnings can use the SC and leave the CCS slots open for us :like:

This is both unbelievable, but believable at the same time,

Believable because the Ford CEO has a twitter Spaces talk today, and it seems odd that a competitor to Tesla would be going on twitter spaces.

So its believable that some deal was worked out.

Just announced by the Ford CEO on Twitter.

Adapter coming to allow current Ford EVs to charge at every Tesla SC.

2025 - they are switching to the NACS standard (Tesla port, which is far better than CCS).

Rivian needs to give Elon a call.

CCS is total and complete garbage, completely inferior.
I think we should switch to the three phase version.

It didn’t say “switching” but offering another port
Adapters are being provided for existing cars and future cars have a NACS port to remove the need for an adapter

Read it here:

Nothing about “switching” and eliminating ccs
No - Ford is switching all EVs produced for the 2025 model year to NACS. Current offerings will get an adapter.

Article from Ford above. I much prefer the Tesla plug over CCS. This is a pretty big win for Tesla
Huge win for Ford customers too.

Well the release on twitter says they will offer the vehicles with the Tesla port built in. So does this mean they will have both CCS and Tesla ports? Smart move for Tesla and Ford.

Where does it say “switching”? This reads as offering two ports built-in, to me

In 2025, Ford will offer next-generation electric vehicles with the North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector built-in, eliminating the need for an adapter to access Tesla Superchargers

I read this as, changing the charging capability. I highly doubt they keep both, that would be seriously expensive.

If there is going to be an adaptor for Ford why would that adapter not work for every other CCS? You can charge on a Magic Dock charger now, so no software integration required. I see this as a sign all CCS cars will be able to use SC network soon via an adapter and pay via the Tesla app

I wonder what this means for the Magic Dock?

Obviously this adapter isn't needed

I bet the magic dock was just as a test for the adapter. It's much better for Tesla to offer an adapter vs retrofit every single station. This makes a lot more sense.
