I can vouch that this RAN in online and working great. I charged at one of the 12 newer Tesla stations in Burley (using an adapter) on the way to Moab on July 13th and at the RAN station on our way home on July 24th. The RAN station wasn't yet online on the 13th. It's always nice when a new charger comes online mid road trip!

Burley is also the last place with enough grid power before the long stretch into Utah. The Snowville Flying J is getting NEVI chargers soon which will also help the stretch before Trementon.
This was going to be my guess. You can only build where you can get power. So Idaho needs to built up its power transmission to more locations.

EA Sucks Balls. Yesterday coming back from Bellevue (to Yakima) my Nav kept routing me to EA chargers even though I "filtered them out". The 3 locations (yes 3!!) that I stopped by were full or not working. Thank GOD for the Tesla Supercharger in Cle Elum. I won't use them unless someone puts a gun to my head.
I wouldnā€™t go that far, but there is room for improvement. I did Seattle to Kennewick and Seattle to Boise consecutive weekends using only EA. Kennewick and Boise were perfect, Ellensburg and Yakima were good but busy, Island City worked great once and derated another and busy and Hermiston was 50% broken and busy.

FYI, not sure how long this lasts, but the 180-kW Circle K charger in Ellensburg still has an introductory price of FREE through the Circle K app.

The 180-kW Circle K chargers in Kennewick and Pasco, and the Circle K in Cherry Valley IL where we were introduced to Circle K, all charge $0.43/kWh through the app.

My impression is that Circle K's charging network is still rudimentary -- but reliable, pleasant, and fairly reasonably priced where it exists.

Yeah - Iā€™m driving from Nashville to Portland next week and driving central Wyoming is always fraught as itā€™s a DCFC desert.

I usually hyper mile through the entire state just to be on the safe side.
Adding an additional RAN on I-80 in Wyoming would be so so good.

that said - Iā€™m happy theyā€™re continuing to build them out and good to know Iā€™ll have a super dependable charger in Burley when I drive through!
Iā€™d at least look at the time difference of taking I-70 through Colorado instead of I-80.

I havenā€™t mapped out the exact route youā€™re taking, but Iā€™ve found the plentiful chargers on I-70 and MUCH better scenery makes the route through Colorado to usually be worth it.

I drove through Denver last year when i did this and even then plugshare and ABRP had me head north up to Wyoming before continuing west. Iā€™m guessing its a faster route

I tried to use the EA in Hermiston about a month ago and all were down. I even talked to them about the issue and they tried to get them going but couldn't and apologized after a half hour of trying to get them working. I was fortunate to be able to go back into Hermiston and charge at Starbucks.
When I was there July 7 I was told that 2 had been down for a month. It is totally unacceptable that a site is out of action so long.

We need more RANs and an adapter.

Good points about permits...I shouldn't give Rivian too hard a time, and good news about hailey ran site (there is a single DCFC charger in Hailey right now that I'll be using next week which hopefully works when I'm there!). It still means I have to drive the long way round from Boise to Stanley (through hailey/sun valley) instead of through Lowman/grandjean but at least should be possible. Now, getting to grandjean might still be impossible in my Rivian/tesla. (without resorting to RV park charging)
Let's get one in Banks and Riggins ID please.

EA has been hard to work with on most of the West Coast, but we got quick reliable service from EA in Minnesota and South Dakota. Montana had one very slow EA charger in Billings, but EA in Montana was otherwise fine.

The EA in Ellensburg WA (Taco Bell, Canyon Road) has been reliable for us and others, but often has a line during busy travel days.

We always keep PlugShare available, in order to adjust our plans "on the fly" when needed.

The older Tesla supercharger in burley is 4 cents a kwh cheaper then the RAN. Also come about September/October it seems Tesla lowers the prices to winter rates through fly over country of Oregon and Idaho. Rivian needs to lower the price per kWh to be competitive with Tesla in many locations and also open the RANā€™s up to non Rivian vehicles. That EA burley can turn into a shat show. Rivian could really pull in some revenue if the opened there network to CCS vehicles. Biggest come apart I seen in 2.5 years and around and about 80k miles of EV driving mostly in a model 3 but some in the r1s was at the EA burley station with a bmw lady. i felt real bad for her male companion in the passenger seat as he was taking the brunt of a failed charge experience but also the person on the other end of the phone. Unfortunately i recommended she return the bmw to petersonā€™s in Boise where the dealer plates were from for a gas version or just head over to tesla in boise to get a vehicle she wouldnā€™t have the troubles charging. It was one of the most epic melt downs I have ever witnessed when it comes to filling a vehicle.

I drove by the site a couple of weeks ago - no construction had started yet, ground was not broken..

Thanks for the pictures and update!

The parking lot comments make sense, and another user in another thread mentioned how a parking lot on Main Street isnā€™t the greatest use of space.

I think they just took the lease they could get from the gear shop.
