It will be challenged in court, it was done through a bill, not an EO so they can’t just cancel it, they need to pass a new bill to adjust it.

Not getting into the political weeds here…but….this is the wrong thing to do.

unless we want a Chinese takeover of the American auto industry in the next 10 to 20 years, we need to be investing more in electric vehicles and associated infrastructure. With the current administration selling their “America first“ agenda. I can’t believe they are going to put American auto makers out of business and give the technological advantage in electrification to our foreign adversaries.

American jobs, American energy, and American tech superiority are all being tossed by failing to invest in EVs, batteries, and associated infrastructure.

100% tariffs on Chinese EV will not be enough. We need heavy investment. The EV race is like the old space race in the 60s. EVs and AI not just AI.

Was a shame it took so long for the funding appropriated nearly four years ago to actually be spent. Also there is a strong case that this $5b is not needed since Tesla, EA, Rivian and others were building charging stations without the subsidy. In addition the subsidy locks in CCS.

On the one hand, yes EV charging infrastructure is important and someone needs to fund it. On the other hand, there is nothing wrong with a review to be sure tax funded projects are properly accounted for. A “review” is responsible accounting (remind me how many new charging stations have come online funded by this money far?) ….it is not a cancellation and those crying foul need to calm down and let it play out.
Also, and most people don’t want to hear this, there are equally intelligent arguments on both sides of the “EVs will save us or the planet argument”, and it’s not clear that the government (any government) should be trying to force EV vs ICE with taxpayer money and regulation (yet).

Ludicrous. This is not the place to debate climate change and the need to electrify transportation. Take your argument to the crazies if you want an echo chamber.

A single person stopping or delaying bipartisan Congress voted on and approved bills with funding is treason. JFC, we’ve already forgotten Schoolhouse Rock.

As others have said investing in infrastructure is a good idea but I'm not sure why this money hasn't been spent already and why the chargers aren't already running. I think a review of that is a good thing.

With all respect, this IS a place to debate climate change and the need to electrify transportation - it's not a yes or no, it's a continuum. Otherwise, it becomes it's own echo chamber, just one that is opposite of the one you are calling crazies.

Shutting down debate is never a positive thing.

Why do we need to debate settled science? Should we include flat earth topics and if the universe resolves around earth? Debate germ theory? Where do you draw the line between debate and arguing against ignorance?

What is there to debate? Fossil fuels produce CO2. CO2 is a greenhouse gas. Renewable energy and EVs significantly reduce greenhouse gases. It’s week known and established science.

The money hasn't been spent because it's actually all being vetted like people expect it to be. It isn't just a blank check to companies that install EV chargers.
