So are the 22" not all-season? Would it be a bad idea to have these for Chicago winters?
The tires are clearly marked ALL SEASON in the photos in the first post.

I just did a quick look back at Rivian's winter testing up in MN. The Blue R1T look like it has 21" tires and the camo truck has 22's. With quad motor's and these all season tires, most people will be totally fine in winter driving.

Thanks for the feedback, I originally ordered with 22" because I thought the 21" was ugly, now I changed it back to 21's .
I didn't realize those inserts were removable
Would be good to see what the 21's look like with the inserts removed and understand the impact to range.

EDIT : A quick google search of the Model 3 Aero wheel covers revealed a test that Car and Driver did which resulted in approx 3.4% range improvement with the covers vs the exposed multi-spoke rim. If the Rivian is similar, I'll be taking the inserts off the 21's!!!

Although those 22s look very sexy, am I the only one that sees them and think pothole flat due to limited sidewall thickness?
I was thinking the same thing. They look cool, but one bad pothole and you've bent a rim. This is more of a problem with heavy vehicles.

Yep. I know a guy with a full size pickup (GM or Chevy) with 22's and the same size tires the R1T has and not only do they look really good, there is plenty of sidewall, and he says the ride is great and hasn't had any issues with bent rims, etc.

I was at the Denver service center today and took some pictures of the various wheels. Not sure if these have been posted somewhere else, but figured I would share them regardless.

Personal opinion was the 22" black wheels didn't look as good in person compared to the configurator, and the 20" black wheels looked great in person compared to the configurator.

The last picture (LE green with the black 20" wheels) was my favorite configuration. My wife still prefers the 22" black wheels.

Needing some help here from current owners... how do the 22 inch tires ride? There will be virtually no off roading for me. Really thinking about switching to 22 from 20 and adding black. Don't really like the 20 black but like the 22 black. And the 10 percent range loss vs 5 percent loss in the 22s. It looks like the 20 in tires are more expensive as well. Would it be feasible to make your own 22 inch spare tire? I cant find the full specs for the 22 in wheel. Instead of buying the 800 spare.

I’m in the same boat, keep going back & forth. Something to keep in mind, I think in looking at different sizes, you need to stay with a 115/116 load index. Just a thought.

I found the oem 22 in tires...so not cheaper. I saw on another thread someone talking the 22 Verde tire. That's why I posted it.

Would we be able to buy an aspect ratio 60 tire for the 20 inch? As long as it was load rated 115 or higher?

What insert is removable exactly? I see it mentioned above....what is the "insert" ??

EDIT: oohhhh, must be talking about the lugnut covers that are black. I still think there's plenty of sidewall for taking on potholes. The fact it weighs so much though does throw a bit of a curveball in there. The bright 22"s just look sweet on there though.
