Not in my 2024 R1T... unless the truck is attempting to charge the pack. And consequently the range is going down by more than 10% in the first 10 miles pushing heat to the pack.
On a 220V? I'm not seeing anything like that on my 2024 R1T Dual Perf.

if it's at 255 miles, it will dip to 250 and quickly gain back the 5 miles. I can warm the battery from 30F to 65F in 30 minutes.

I’m not sure why so many EV folks complain of horrible drop offs in range and performance - this was brutal conditions and the Riv performed great and I was super comfortable the entire time! Loving this truck more and more as I put tens of thousands of miles on her. 😊
Similarly, I'm not sure why so many get butt hurt by the decreased efficiency when it's cold. There are many ways one can counter that initial efficiency hit but they chose to ignore it, or just would rather complain.

Gas vehicles are so inefficient, that one rarely notices the range efficiency hit in colder weather, EV's on the other hand are so efficient, and rely on that efficiency so heavily that one can't help but notice the decrease.

Lucid's are a prime example of this.

Then it's because the truck is preparing the pack to charge as you are below your range target (as shown by the 5 miles gained back). Try just using the climate controls to heat or defrost the cabin while the truck is fully charged to your target level... the quick reduction in range with a cold battery I was talking about is lost while driving, not when still pugged in.

Do you have the option checked to pull from the charger when running climate?

Only when you pre-program a scheduled heating which I have no use for as timing of my drives varies quite a lot.

Today I drove my ‘22 R1T Quad on a 93 mile trip; about 50/50 Interstate and back roads. The truck had been sitting outside for the last 5 days undriven (it vampire drained 11 kwhr in that time. That’s typical for mine). My truck has 35k miles on it.

It’s been very cold here the last 5 days with salt and snow (that’s why I haven’t been driving mine I try to keep it out of the salt and instead drive my 2008 beater Trailblazer with 230k miles on it !). When I left this morning it was 19F outside and the wind had been blowing 30-40 mph with wind chills in single digits. The battery pack temp was 21 F. The motors were ice cold. I drove the entire trip with cabin heat at 70 and heated seats and wheel on. Truck was in All Purpose mode in standard height on 21” tires.

My average for the entire trip was 2.26 mile per kwhr and I was driving at or slightly above the speed limits. When I finished driving the pack temp was 38F and the highest motor temps I saw were 139F.

I’m super happy with that performance and I’d say my range was only affected slightly from normal (the Regen was nearly non existent for the first 2/3 of the trip since the pack temp was so cold).

How did your heater work? In cold weather I can't get enough warm air to circulate around the floor. It's my biggest gripe about the truck.

I don't know your schedule, but why not just run it once in the morning or before your earliest first use of the day. If my vehicle is at the set range, I turn the climate on -- my battery warms 30F beyond the point it started at. That warmth lasts most of the day.

I get same result by just increasing the set range to “force” the truck to use the charger when needed.

Does the screen show red air flow around the floor ? If not, just shut the AUTO mode and put it back to reset it.

Questions about cold weather efficiency shall not be named.

Yeah, even on floor only, high heat, it just doesn't warm up. It'll feel hot elsewhere when using the other vents.

it seems to take a little time to really start warming up (reminds me of my ICE cars in cold weather) but it is very comfy after a little while with the cabin set to 70 (vents on floor and front of dashboard) and with the heated seats on 2 and the steering wheel heat on.

In such mild winter conditions, I don’t really notice a drop in efficiency for my R1 T either. When it is -20°F I lose about 25- 30% range. I think that’s what most people are referring to when they complain about range loss in cold conditions.

Yes; I drove our Tesla MYLR ~2500 miles last month, and we got a cold snap the first entire day of driving. Not as cold as up there, but in Maine and northern NY it was between 0-7F the entire day and first half of second day, decent wind too. Major loss of efficiency, 30%+ (Thule on top didn’t help).

Second day, as soon as it was around 30F, range was right up towards expected, maybe 10% down or so.

I am not getting near that, I think cold headwinds and resistance are the biggest barriers to higher miles/kwh. I get max 1.7 when there’s no one infront of me and I am alone on the road, but can get 2.25+ with all heating blasting when I am driving behind someone.
