"For example, the study showed a correlation between sharp, short EV accelerations and slower degradation. This was contrary to long-held assumptions of battery researchers, including this study’s team, that acceleration peaks are bad for EV batteries. Pressing the pedal with your foot hard does not speed up aging. If anything, it slows it down, explained Alexis Geslin, one of three lead authors of the study and a PhD student in materials science and engineering and in computer science in Stanford’s School of Engineering."
Rivian R1T R1S Existing EV batteries may last up to 40% longer than expected, says Stanford report speed-gif-7

Like we needed an excuse :). A friend pointed out that while there may be a posted speed limit, there's no acceleration limit.
Your friend is wrong... "operating a vehicle in an imprudent manner", my 19yo self can confirm that's for real (2X) :(

Wish they did a study on the oldest Teslas to see how many are still on the road and have original batteries.

Depends on the state. Georgia it's usually fine. Cops will sometimes cite for reckless driving, but it's predominately only if you are racing, laying drag, or popping a wheelie on a motorcycle. The first two being separate offenses altogether.

It also depends on who you are. At 18 you’re a target for this shit. My 40 year old ass in my expensive Rivian is not a great look for the officer defending this ticket in traffic court.

They aren’t going to be able to articulate how fast you were going as it’s a judgement call and if you never exceeded the speed limit that ticket would be hard keep.

True, I've not been bothered in years. Cops like easy prey. Those that are most likely to result in a search and arrest (via probable cause due to weed smell or someone young and naive enough to consent to one).

Rivan range loss has been non-existent for me. That's in contrast to my experience with Tesla, where I lost about 5% in the first two years.

Now, I happen to never get Rivian EPA rated mileage, but that's another matter.

In the Arizona code, it's called "power display" - which is more points than a speeding ticket - same as "reckless driving." At least that's what the officer said.
